Hey Guys,

Just curious if anyone's been out and successful targeting any bass since the storm.  Thinking about heading to Loxahatchee this weekend or possible next but just curious what you guys have been seeing or finding.  I'm guessing it's a royal mess and will be for several months but just thought I'd check.  Thanks all and hope everyone is doing well and safe.

Since Irma the water levels have been way up.  Super high in the glades, and bass are places you can't get too until it drops a foot or two, and they move back to fish-able waters.  Have not been to Lox since before Irma.  Movement on the flats should be good.I did hear that some of the Lox Road ramps are closed because of construction.  Fishing has been good on Kis. this weekend.  Okeechobee was brutal last weekend on the south side.  Nothing else to add.  Might go to H/L tomorrow.

So much of bass behavior remains mysterious. In the first few days after Irma I went bank fishing in several pond locations around Boca Raton and the bite was very aggressive.  The water everywhere was high and muddy and for some reason the bass were hungry and plentiful. I recall catching a seven pounder in a pond surrounded by gigantic fallen trees. The effect seemed to last about a week. Last year while waiting for my fishing buddy I was chatting with a fellow in the bait shop at Slim's in Belle Glade. He was musing about the effect of hurricanes on bass fishing, and was going on about how giant bass were being caught everywhere by everybody in Lake Okeechobee for the first three days after a hurricane -- I think Wilma -- that had blown through several years previously. Go figure.

Unfortunately not as well as you did by the sounds of it, but glad to hear you did well!  Went out with my dad on kayaks on Friday morning but had to wait until about 8:30 am to put in the water due to some heavy rain (didn't feel like getting drenched).  Water is very high at Lox as well which of course isn't surprising.  We caught a few decent LM and a couple of other dinks.  5 on the morning but only was able to fish from 8:30 till 11.  All 5 fish were caught from 8:30 - 9:30.  Skunked for the last 1.5 hours we fished so we packed up and headed home.  We fished back in the flats the entire time, didn't so much as throw anything around the spoil bank or out in the main canal.
