IndianaFinesse Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Alright, I was set on a 6'10" mh shimano zodias to use for 3/16-3/8 ounce jigs and t-rigs up to 3/16 or 1/4 ounce, but now I'm wavering between the zodias or a g-loomis E6X. For those of you that have both, which do you prefer? Which one do you feel is more sensitive? Edit, it will be paired with a curado 70. Quote
JustinJ Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I don't own any of these rods But I've felt both in the store and the zodias is far more sensitive in my opinion . I actually hated the way the e6x felt 1 Quote
JackKlassen Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 keep in mind the zodias only has a 1 year warranty... 1 Quote

My 72m struggles a bit with 3/16 jig and Most guys who fish jigs on a zodias fish the heavy model.i would be fishing a different power rod with a 3/16oz jig vs a 3/8oz jig 1 Quote
Super User burrows Posted October 4, 2017 Super User Posted October 4, 2017 I have a zodias 7mf spinning rod and I can tell you it’s my favorite rod. I definitely recommend a zodias. Extremely sensitive and strong you can’t go wrong with it. I was actually in your same predicament a year ago I couldn’t make up my mind between the loomis e6x or the zodias and I’m glad I picked the zodias. 1 1 Quote

RichF Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I have the 6'10mh Zodias and absolutely love it. I mostly use it for 1/4 to 3/8 oz football jigs for smallmouth. It's super sensitive and pairs PERFECTLY with a Chronarch CI4. The Curado 70 will feel just as good. I don't own any Loomis rods but have held the E6X several times. IMO, it doesn't hold a candle to the Zodias. It looks and feels like a cheap turd of a rod priced well above what it should be. Yes, while Shimanos one year warranty isn't the greatest, they also offer a good replacement option. 50% off a new one, shipped free both ways, no matter how it broke. Buy a fuji hook keeper for $3 and call it good! 1 1 Quote
Preytorien Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 I've got a Zodias MH/F and have also handled the E6X at the store and I am convinced I bought the right thing. It's sensitive, has a great build, has a nice finish (unless you're a cork enthusiast), and is comfortable to use. I would say the only things the E6X has over it is these things. You determine if they're the swing features you're looking for.... 1. G. Loomis has a better warranty 2. E6X has cork handles If neither of those things are major factors to you, I would echo the sentiments of myself and the others above that a Zodias is a fine choice. Ultimately the best test would be if you could find a retailer that has both, handle them, then make your call. 1 1 Quote

An up charge for the Loomis name. I just wanted to check that I wasn't missing out on a potentially better rod. BTW, I will definitely be getting a hook keeper added on, either a Fuji type one or I might just wrap a real one on myself. No idea why shimano doesn't have one on it. 1 Quote
kschultz76 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Hook keepers are a preference thing, just like cork vs Eva. Plenty of anglers love hook keepers and plenty of anglers hate them and remove them. Some kinds regardless of placement will interfere with your line. The Zodias is a JDM styled/inspired rod, and most JDM rods do not come with hook keepers. Ive found I like the Fujis as well as an that are wrapped on bc of the versatility of them and the ability to easily move them. 1 Quote

newyorktoiowa57 Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 I'd go with a 2019 levante over either of them. The Zodias and e6X are both quite tip heavy. Quote
Bassattackr Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Zodias is more sensitive for sure. They're both good rods but I wouldn't use an E6X for any bottom contact application. If you got spinning/braid setup then it doesn't matter though. Quote
