Tweek1106 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Thanks in advance for any advice you can share. Getting ready to make the move from PA to Jacksonville FL and wanted to know if there is anything I should be aware of regarding bass fishing in FL? Anyone else make a move from the north to FL have any insight or tips/tricks/guidelines? Quote
moretolife Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I moved from NC to FL. Differences I found were: 1. Much more grass especially hydrilla. 2. Shallow lakes, 9-12 feet maximum 3. Summertime bite is only at night or early am. So, I'm throwing flukes, worms, rattletraps (when lake not too clogged with hydrilla) and grubs. In the summer the fish scatter, so, you might pick up one and then have to move to find another. If you want to catch some during the hot summer, live bait, primarily shiners or bluegill, sometimes works, especially in shady places or just before dark. Spawn occurs much earlier, December to late Feb. That's your best chance at a lunker. 1 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted October 8, 2017 Super User Posted October 8, 2017 There are tons of ponds in the jax. area. And the River and its tributaries. There are some good natural lakes starting within a one hour drive. I have fished soft plastics primarily here and done pretty good . P.M me when you get here and I'll be glad to help with specifics. And Amen to the salt water fishing thats available. 1 Quote

Always better to have a local to show you the ropes. 11 hours ago, Rick Howard said: Throw away your snow shovel! maybe burn it lol If I die without seeing another snowflake I'll be a happy man. 2 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted October 8, 2017 Super User Posted October 8, 2017 Only advice I got for you is take me with you. You're gonna need a translator and I speed fluent Floridian. Also I'm small so I fit in any overhead luggage. Good luck and if you ever miss lousy weather feel free to come back. Quote
