JigMaster4 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I have a 5 arm yum Alabama Rig, but having heads on all 5 is too cumbersome for my rod. My plan is to only have 3 weighted heads (5/16 or 1/4 heads) and the other 2 are rigged weightless. I'm wondering where to place these so my rig doesn't tangle. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this and could help. Thanks! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 3, 2017 Super User Posted October 3, 2017 Having the rig balanced is important. if using only 3 weighted on a 5 way, - I'd put the weighted baits on the middle and the two bottom (left & right) arms. Leaving the two top arms weightless. Having the weights low will act like a keel and assist the rig to run upright & track true. A-Jay Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 3, 2017 Super User Posted October 3, 2017 ^^^ this ^^^^ In California we can only use 3 hooks and use Owner CPS to attach swimmers without hooks to the upper 2 arms. Use a MH swimbait rod, helps to cast easier and greater distance. Tom Quote

Still would recommend a my swimbait rod. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 3, 2017 Super User Posted October 3, 2017 I use#3 EWG Worm Hooks, weightless with Rage Tail Menace on the outside arms. For the inside arm try both a Rage Swimmer with a 1/4 oz swimbait head or a Johnson Silver Minnow. http://www.yumbaits.com/yumbrella-r-flash-mob-jr-willow-blade -Kent Quote
