pauldconyers Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Been learning to fish soft plastics for large mouths this year. Learned to fish weightless senkos be it Texas or Wacky rigged. Some times when T-rigged I've used a small tungsten sliding worm weight above the hook as well. I'd like to "feel" the lure a bit more and how my manipulation affects it's movement on the bottom and such. I've been told to try a shakey head but I have no idea what design/brand/size to get. If it helps regarding what you advise when T-rigging I have mostly been using 5 or 7 inch senkos with 4/0 EWG hooks. Quote
Russ E Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 i use megastrike pro series if fishing rocks or do nothing banks. if I am fishing around weeds or wood, I use Bagley shaky heads 1/8 oz. in less than 10ft of water. up to 1/4 oz in deeper water or in wind. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I like the owner cps shaky heads (actually, I prefer the shaky heads I make, but talking production heads here), 1/8 ounce. Get a pack of finesse trick worms (or zman's finesse wormz) and full sized trick worms and you're good to go. Quote

I use This mold. If you fish around more weeds than brush, get the mold I linked. But of you fish around more brush, the flat eye model goes over limbs better. I'm not to picky about the head shape, which is why I just got the round head mold. The biggest reasons I started pouring shakys is because I could not find the exact hook size, brand, and style I wanted in the weights I use (plus it costs a fraction of the price). The beauty of making your own stuff is you can have exactly what you want, no compromising. 1 Quote

pauldconyers Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 I just want to buy one type to start with. One that can be used no matter the terrain and such so I can get used to it and deliver if I want to get some more specific to the situation. Any other suggestions for a good all around one to start with? Quote
