Largemouth21 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I shot 4 this weekend. Beautiful day to be out. Now how do I cook em. Supposedly they're really good. 1 Quote
Crappiebasser Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I have only seen them skinned, filleted and cooked into stew or dumplings. I've never seen squirrel eaten by itself. 1 Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted October 3, 2017 Super User Posted October 3, 2017 I've eaten many right off the grill soak/marinate if you wish and throw 'em on the grill. 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted October 4, 2017 Global Moderator Posted October 4, 2017 I had to take a bot fly larva out of a kitten before. Most disgusting thing I've ever done/seen. I'll gut a deer all day long but I'd have a hard time taking another bot fly out. P.s. people can get them too 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted October 7, 2017 Super User Posted October 7, 2017 A friend of mine had one taken out of his forehead. Got it in the tropics. He could feel it moving around in there. Only one of many doctors in the states knew what it was and how to handle it. Quote
Cak920 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 You can make squirrel pretty much any way you make chicken. Same with rabbit 1 Quote

I wonder how it got in there in the first place The larva burrows into your skin and feeds off from the inside of your skin. Once it reaches maturity it'll come out. They have little burrs on them that makes taking them out a bit tricky. Pretty gross. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted December 3, 2017 Super User Posted December 3, 2017 I'mfixing squirrel today . I'm going to attempt the way my Mom use to cook them . Some of the best eating I ever had . Fry them . Then make gravy with the drippings , throw squirrel and gravy in a crock pot and cook for several hours . I'm going to add a can of mushrooms . Quote

scottyboy Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Squirrel and dumplin's Take four good Squirrels and boil them until tender, Take meat off the bones but save the broth, cut up 5-6 cans of cheap always save biscuits. Cut up each biscuit into 4 sections and roll each piece in a milk and butter batter and finally flour them. Now add seasonings and the squirrel meat eat to the broth. Get it boiling good and dump in your biscuits for about 20 min. Talking about good! This recipe usually requires sweet Tea and a foot stool {Bot flies are optional} 1 Quote
