Saw the above, two fishing lures at Dick's Sporting Goods Store in Greensburg, PA. How good are they and how do you fish them?

After looking at this lure, That's what I thought. Stay away from it.

It just has terrible hook placement. The trailer hook helps, but it's still pretty bad. I fell for it, bought one and it was a waste of money. There are plenty of baits that do what the duck tries to do much better.

The rat however does look pretty legit. I haven't picked one up, but a few buddies have them and catch fish pretty consistently.

I have 2 of the ducks in black and wood duck coloration. I've tried them out a couple of times each but they didn't get bit. I haven't completely given up on them and maybe they will be a better Spring bait as that is when baby ducks normally hatch but they have definitely fallen out of my rotation for now. As for a rat bait, I would definitely go with the Spro BBZ-1...that does get bit!!!

I caught a few on the Duck this spring, no problems with hoOk-ups though I recommend straight braid when fishing . Not sure it will be a permanent mainstay in my tackle rotation but it does catch fish .

Fish the duck just like a whopper plopper. The rat I just fish like any other rat/wake bait, cast it out and reel it in slow.
