Largemouth21 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I am going to start experimenting with swim jigs, what size Swing impact fat would fit the best on a 1/4 oz Strike king. I apologize in advance for asking such vague questions. Quote
KDW96 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 It really depends on the size of the hook. Actually i use the regular Swing IMPACT 4in, and the Easy shiners on 1/4 oz. They work well and are cheaper. On larger jigs, etc i use 3.8 and 4.8 fat impacts. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 27, 2017 Global Moderator Posted September 27, 2017 3.8" is going to be your standard size but you can go bigger or smaller as the situation dictates. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 27, 2017 Super User Posted September 27, 2017 I don't consider any matching size to weight, rather I consider retrieve speed, and profile. You can reel in a larger bait much slower on a lighter head, and vice-versa. As long as the hook isn't taking up more than about 1/3 of the bait, it's fine. 1 Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 on a 1/4 oz swim jig, I use either a 3.3 or a Reaction Innovations little dipper. You don't want anything much bigger to overpower the jig. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 27, 2017 Super User Posted September 27, 2017 3.3 and 3.8 are my bread and butter. The Lake Fork 3.5" Magic Shad's are another solid bait choice. 1 Quote

Steveo-1969 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Thank you for the post @J Francho. Lately I've been super gluing them onto jig heads with mixed results. The toothpick seems much simpler. 2 Quote

georgeyew Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Is the toothpick supposed to keep the trailer from sliding down the hook? Quote
