I am 15 years old turning 16 next year and I might be able to get a small boat for Christmas or my birthday but am not sure what I can get for around the 600 dollar or less range, anything I shoukd know about this process or more importantly do you know of any small boats that fit that price range

Most of the time it would be just me but I would like to be able to take someone with me and I’ll mostly be fishing small lakes.

You can pick up a brand new 10' Jon boat for around $550 at Academy, just over $600 for a 12'.  I'm sure you can find a used one for even less.  I used a 10' Jon boat for years, I could load it in the bed of my truck and then carry it to the water.  I launched that boat all over the place.  You can fish 2 out of the 10' but it will kind of tight, if you were gonna have a 2nd person a majority of the time, you may wanna look into a 12'.

Welcome from Central Michigan. Craigslist in Michigan is already starting to get flooded with boats people don't want to carry through the winter. I think you should be able to find one in that price range. All I have is a 14' flat bottom and a trolling motor and get around just fine. Good luck on your search.

The Minkota ones they sell at Wal-Mart would suit you just fine. Where in Michigan are you located?

Look into a bass raider. Here in southern indiana you can pick up a 10ft bass raider for 260 bucks at rural king. They fish 2 People decently but are great for 1 man operations.

Get at least 12' and a bow mount is all you need. transom is ok but  a pain. MINN KOTA edge for shallow or power drive for offshore.
