Ghound1 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 It was a large mouth bass just under 14 inches. I have never seen this before and few old timer fisherman I know, has never seen it. It was all over the inners and they are hard to the touch. Caught in shallow water in the south atchafalaya bassin. Quote

Ghound1 Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Forgot to put this was the fishes liver. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Hard to the touch, maybe cancer? I don't know what it is, but I do know that I would not be eating that fish. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 26, 2017 Super User Posted September 26, 2017 I would show this to your local fish commission/DNR. 7 Quote
Angealy Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Yeah, I don't want to deal with that while fishing! It's pretty gross af and i feel sorry for the poor fish. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted September 26, 2017 Super User Posted September 26, 2017 If you caught it to eat, I sure hope you didn't eat. Cancer is also my first guess from a non expert or those are some serious abcesses. Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted September 26, 2017 Super User Posted September 26, 2017 The liver, you say? What do you expect? He's been drinking his whole life. 5 Quote

Super User WRB Posted September 26, 2017 Super User Posted September 26, 2017 Welcome to BR site. Looks like fish fatty liver dease (FLD). Tom Quote
Drew03cmc Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 That is nasty. At first i was assuming it was the yellow parasitic worms, but then I saw it and almost puked. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted September 26, 2017 Super User Posted September 26, 2017 Cirrhosis. As you can see from my catch. Alcoholism runs rampant in the underwater community. 6 Quote
BuzzHudson19c Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Don't eat that bass. When we clean rabbits we always check the liver for white spots. If they have them it usually means parasites and the meat gets tossed. No way I'd risk trichinosis over a little bass. Quote

Maybe one day I will catch one that big. I sent pics pics to the dept of wildlife. If they answer I will post it. If they show up here in haz mat suits. It may be awhile before I post. 2 1 Quote
