I was at the sporting goods store and I saw a St. Croix 7' 1" fast action casting rod.  I have always used either Shimano or Abu G rods.  This St. Croix was $130, which is usually around what I will spend on a rod.  What are you thoughts on this rod?  Should I give it a try or just stick with Shimano or Abu G?

I really like St Croix for their no-hassle simple warranty. They make quality rods and back them up, and getting a rod replacement/repair is really easy with them. I have a few Avid X's and Mojo's which are great rods.

What model was it?  Mojo?

I have over 25 SC rods, in Avid, Eyecon, and LTB series.  Love them.

I have one, a Premier PC60M that I have cut 3" off the handle. It's a sweet casting rod. Does anyone know when they started the Premier series of graphite rods.

Huge fan of St. Croix.  Like everyone has said, their warranty and customer service are the best out there.  I have 8 Croixs and they're all fantastic.

You're getting the same blank as an Avid (SCII, pretty crisp and sensitive), a more modern style grip, and slight downgraded guides.  I really like the medium power/fast in that blank since covers a ton of both contact baits, and is a nice long distance spinner bait, small swimbait (boot tail on a jug head), and other single hook baits.  I've used the medium rod, and it's not noticeably different, other than the handles.

i have two St. Croix Triumph 6.6 medium/fast action rods that i use with my C3-4600 reels. I know the Triumph rods aren't the top of the line, but i love the cork grips and that's what sold me. for my casting style, i guess they work really well. I use a lot if whopper ploppers, jigs, shallow divers, senko's, etc, and the rods seem to handle really well

Have several of them. My favorite is the Premier even though I have an Avid plus several others. Just like the way it casts/handles. The next rod I buy will be another Premier.

I have at least half a dozen SC rods and will likely own a lot more.  The Mojo is a great rod, and very difficult to beat for $130.

St Croix rods have been around longer than either Abu Garcia or Shimano rods and made in the USA. My first bass rod was a Connolin before Garcia bought the company and closed it. Every rod Abu Garcia sells is from China. I don't own Shimano rods, reels yes. If you are looking for a $120 rod the St Croix Mojo series is a good choice.

I never owned anything below an avid.  Picked a used 66mf and that began my hoarding.  I now own over 15 and now have customs built on their blanks.  They make a great product for a good price right here in the usa.  Need I say more.

I have the mojo spinning rod in 6'8 m/xf, and it's my first SC rod I can see why they have such a following. It's a great rod even though it says it's for wacky rig. I use it to drag tubes, shakey heads, senkos obviously. I'm thinking about maybe getting the avid x, or the new Tb.

Awesome rods, my favorite. I've tried others, but it's a match made when I pick up my Croixs. I have two premier rods that's are 15 years old, and you hand hardly read the labels on them anymore, still catch fish. They used to be stiff for their rating, but today's st. croix is accurate to their rating in my opinion.

I posted earlier about getting my first St. Croix rod.  It is the 7'1" MF Mojo Bass...SCIII blank.  It is nice to know what I can expect from the rod.  Thanks.

OP, was it a MF or MHF?  I've always like the looks of the Premiers.  Didn't care for the looks of the original Mojo Bass rods, but the reviews on the new ones have all been very good so when I had the chance to get one for $109 I took it.  Price was $69.97 plus tax when they rang it up.  Was I ever glad for the Bait Monkey that day.  :teeth:

I purchased my first st Croix rod earlier this year. It was the 6'8" m-xf wacky style mojo spinning rod. Love the rod so far and have nothing bad to say about it, it is very sensitive. I will probably be picking up a 6'8" or 7'1" mojo baitcaster mh-f in the near future.

It is the MHF.  Thanks for all the info everyone.  I think I'm going to stop by the store on my way home and pick it up.  If the wife asks me why I bought another rod, I'm going to tell her bass resource told me to! ;)

I love St Croix rods. I have rods from as low as premier up to Avid X. Customer service has been superb from my experience and I plan on buying a lot more. I'm in the process of getting a LTB casting rod now.

I have 3 Mojos one is a froggin rod takes a beating and boat flopping.  Hell of a made rod for the money. For 130 probably one of the best for the money all things considered.

I bought it.  So far it seems great.  Thanks for all the info everyone.
