Greetings Anglers!

Looking to give regular Daiwa Tatula rods (not the elites) a try... as my budget doesn't allow for anything more expensive, and nowadays you can pick them up for between $105 - $140 depending where you shop.  I've heard nothing but good reviews on them.

Reaching out to anyone who has owned any combination of the following three Tatula models:

TAT721HFB ("Trigger Rod") |  7'2" Heavy Fast (3/8 - 1.5oz)

TAT741HFB ("Frog Rod")     |  7'4" Heavy Fast (1/2 - 2oz)  <--- Why is this one rated higher, is it a beefier stick?
TAT761HFB ("Flipping Rod")|  7'6" Heavy Fast (3/8 - 1.5oz)

What I'm most curious about, is if all three of these are truly equally Heavy-Fast blanks, or if there is any difference between the three?   I noticed the 7'4" Frog rod is rated up to 2oz, as opposed to 1.5oz of both the shorter and longer models listed above.  So is it beefier?  And if all three have the same action at the tip.

I'll most likely be punching with this first Tatula, and personally like a punching rod to have both a backbone but also a little bend in the tip so that I don't blow the fish's mouth open.

Thanks for any help!!

7'6" is the one you will want for punching.  7'2" is a great football and Carolina Rig rod.

Thanks Webertime - That's the one I'm leaning towards so far.

I have all 3 of those rods and wouldn't trade them for anything! I truly believe that for the money, they can't be beat. They are all true heavy/fast as well but not broomsticks by any means. The 7' 4" frog rod is a beast and an awesome pitchin stick, hollow body frog and swimbait rod. I use the 7' 2" for toads, smaller paddle tail swimbaits and swim jigs. The 7'6" is the perfect flippin stick for me around medium cover. They are all really versatile rods with very crisp actions.

I have 1 and really like it. I need to find some local place that stocks the full line so I can try some others too. Fantastic rods that definitely fish above their price point!?

I have the 7'2 Heavy Fast and it is by far the best rod I've ever thrown.  Light, plenty of backbone and an AMAZING tip.  I do everything with it from throw frogs, to football jigs, to 1/4oz texas rig worms.  Mines paired with a Tatula CT in the 7 ratio.  Best setup I've ever owned.  I picked mine up at academy around last xmas for $60.  If they would have had other models I would have bought them.  I'll check back this year and I'd grab another of the same model to throw other stuff on.

Thanks Dink Whisperer - That's really got me pumped to try these rods!

Thanks Nate - Would love to have the 7'2 as my jig rod!  Man, you picked it up for $60, that's a steal!

No problem Angler311, lmk if you have any specific questions on the rods. Dang Nate, $60 is insane! I would've bought 3 or 4 at that price! ?

I have the TAT721HFB and use it for all my jig fishing and t-rig fishing. It is my favorite rod. IMO it is not a punching rod  (1oz and greater weights) though. I use my 7'6" HF abu garcia vendetta (more like an XHXXF pool cue if you ask me) which is also my frog rod to punch. Anything an ounce and under for jig, and t-rig applications my TAT721HFB gets the nod though. I would "punch" with lighter weights maybe with it. I feel it shines with 3/8 and 1/2 jigs though. I would definitely describe it as a true heavy and a true fast. I can't compare it to the other rods you mentioned though.

I have a 7' Medium with an SV103H on it and I absolutely love the rod (and reel).  It is very nice at throwing a variety of baits and even though it has a regular taper, it is rather fast.  They are a great rod for the price!  I got mine for $99.

I have the 7'4" and it is...by far...my favorite rod in my arsenal.  It is a monster of a frog rod.
