I have a base Daiwa Zillion that i am wanting to upgrade.  What is the first thing to upgrade that would have the biggest diffence off the bat. Whether it be casting distance, drag, smoothness, etc.

The spool is the first thing I would upgrade, regular for a SV spool.

Is there anything you would recommend?  Im not even sure where to buy spools honestly.

Do you have the newer zillion or an original zillion? The original isn't compatible with current sv spools. If you have the newer model then the absolute best option would be an sv spool. You can get them from the tackle trap, but I think they are currently sold out.

Its new, purchased last year.  Just was hoping for a little more distance.  I have a cheap abu that casts farther.

Are your brakes set correctly? The daiwa's with the magforce z braking system take a different approach to setting them up.

Yes lol, i have plenty of experience too.  Fish Tournaments weekly, something just feels tight, have the tatula cts and tatula hd and they both cast better as well

There are some new lubricants from Japan that cost $25 oz that are phenomenal after you have cleaned OEM parts and upgraded bearning to high quality ABEC 5, 7's are over kill IMO unless you believe your spool turns 20,000 rpm's. I make 50 yard cast every trip, unless you plan on long cast why waste your time and money?

It's owning a 200 mph street car that you drive 70 mph!

Flush the bearings and oil lightly before investing in any after market parts.

What he said, makes a surprising difference.
