I have a old southbend proton reel and just today I was fishing with it and after my 7th cast it suddenly started clicking whenever I turned the handle to retrieve if I turn off antireverse then the clicking stops but it would take months to get used to holding the spool while setting the hook ive tried taking it apart but found no problems never was able to get the sound to stop it is something to do with the inside of the rotor,

info:

line:50lb J-Briad

rod:4'5" casting rod heavy fast action (I have no spare spinning rods)

reel southbend proton, PTW-35/B-X, 5:1 GR, 1 ball bearing
