What's new with the new Pflueger President

I just noticed that DSG has a new model of the President Pflueger spinning reel. They're selling the older model for 16% and I was wondering what's different with the new lineup besides looks. Am I getting anything better by paying $10 more?

I believe the new President Has a graphite body and upgraded corrosion resultant bearings

I currently have a $10 off your purchase of $50 or more for DSG that expires on the 30th. As I mentioned the older President is on sale for $10 off. I could use the coupon and get the older reel for $40 or the newer for $50. Should I spend 10 bucks more and get the newer reel? It seems like almost the whole reel has been re-worked and I think it's something I should snag while I can

Haven't seen one in person but they look nicer in pictures. Problem is, none of my older Presidents have given me a reason to replace them yet.

I do hope that Pflueger doesn't go down the road of Shimano - kicking up the price and repackaging the same reels! I have 4 Presidents that have been in service for several years now. Nothing wrong with the design or quality.

The older ones are on sale everywhere and I would have a hard time not buying more if I had any need for more spinning reels. They're not fancy, but they're built like tanks that just seem to keep on going.

Where? The only pricing I ever see has been the same for years - $49.00 for the 6920 and $59.00 for all other sizes.

It's about time. Within a few months the crank on mine was brittle and pitted. No saltwater, no bug spray, no sun tan lotion. Just humidity and sweat. Pfleuger directed me to the parts catalog to BUY a new crank. I wasn't happy.

So based just on corrosion resistance, the new reel seems like a better idea.

I'd take my $59 and buy something else. Not a fan of the President. I did add a cheaper Pflueger Trion to the arsenal this summer and I've enjoyed it. I'm a Shimano fan.

I have a 6930 on a lightning rod shock.  Was my one and only bass combo for a couple years.  I broke the frame when my launch rope got caught.  Literally ripped the reel off the rod with my truck.  Bought a new frame and put it all back together and she's still going strong.  So moral of the story is don't tie your reel between your truck and boat and it should provide you years of good service. Enjoy

I plan on having this as an all around spinning setup for a longggggggg time. Unfortunately I don't have a boat, so your escapade probably won't be repeated

I have an older President, it's a good real, solid, dependable and affordable, but I also have a Mitchell 300 Pro which is slightly more expensive, but it's smoother cranking and in the event of line twist, the line is much less likely to get wrapped around the reel and get stuck. That said, I would not hesitate to buy the President but it may be worth looking for a Mitchell Pro instead.
