jcrazy Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 When you guys go by yourself how do you launch the boat? do you back the truck down the ramp and put the E break on and go to the boat and take it off and tie it to a dock and get off the boat and pull your truck back up the ramp and park it? or is there a easier way then this for a solo mission? Ifishthere4Iam Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 OK, Heres the drill. 1 While in the parking lot, remove all tie downs , etc. and unhook bow strap. Attach bow strap to bow rope. 2 Back down the ramp, far enough to float boat off trailer, and out into the water. (15' rope attached to trailer strap keeps boat from disappearing) 3 pull forward far enough to detach rope from trailer strap, and tie boat off somewhere close, but out of the way of other launchers. 4 Park truck, take a pee at the bathroom(last chance!!) 5 Go catch some fish. I can usually launch quicker by myself than others do in a group. It tends to annoy me when these clowns are fiddling around with stuff that they could have taken care of in the parking lot. BTW they're usually much worse when pulling their boat OUT of the water. A little common sense and courtesy can go a long way. Quote
blueranger1 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I keep my bow strap hooked up where it will free spool. Then back boat in just enough it starts to floating up get out unhook it and then back boat off. Quote

michbass Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I normally also fire the motor real quick before I undo the bow strap when it is the water then tie it up. I had a time where it wouldnt start a couple years back and got into the habit now. I dont leave it running I just check it real quick. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted May 6, 2007 Super User Posted May 6, 2007 I launch alone all the time. I have a 16' aluminum with trolling motors only. I was a musician until arthritis disabled my hands and I learned years ago how to coil a mike cable so it will un-coil without tangling. I use this coiling technique with my bow line and tie the tag end to my Van back door handle. I lay the coiled bow rope on the tounge of the trailer and back the boat off the trailer. This works every time and is very easy. I'm in the water very quickly. Ronnie Quote
