Saltwater Bass Fishing Spots in Newport Beach, CA?

I'm fairly new to fishing and I was hoping if someone in the Orange County, CA area could help me out. I usually go fishing with my buddy in Long Beach, CA off 2nd St. and E. Marina Dr. on the docks (there's a launching spot for boats). I think its saltwater but if anyone could confirm I'd appreciate it. I live nearby Newport Beach so I'm looking for nearby saltwater bass fishing spots. Is there a site that shows all the spots?

Are you gonna do surf fishing or just simple one from pier or jetties? Surf fishing you can fish anywhere around the beach, Huntington Beach is pretty good for that. Get there early you will see some guy surf fishing there most of the time. Otherwise you can go to all the piers nearby from Newport all the way to seal beach.

I used to fish jetty in seal beach from 2nd street to bay shore to E ocean blvd(look for Alamitos Park). There are pay parking at the end and you can fish either on jetty or surf fishing on the beach . Fish to target Halibut, Perch and sea bass if you are lucky. Another spot is at the end of Long Beach dock past queen marry(I don't quite remember how to get there maybe Pier J). There are a lot of big mackerel there and some Perch.

I wish I can help you more but it's been more than 10 years since I moved out from Los Alamitos.

In Newport Beach area you have the bay and jetty to fish for spotted bay and calicoe bass. Near the ferry crossing area is a halibut hole the locals fish.

The Longbeach Federal breakwater is scheduled to be removed and work could be underway at this time? If they are working to remove the breakwater, you can't fish there!

I don't know if you have a boat, if you do fish the QM breakwater, good calicoe bass area.

Yes, it's coastal salt water fishing!

Haha good luck! From what I experienced as a kid, it was hard. Massive pressure. Now a days, I hear it's even worse. The masses of people put so much pressure on those piers that it's extremely hard to get anything decent. Not to mention overfishing is bad. I remember throwing back an undersized halibut and so many people freaked lol. The best surf fishing I experienced was at Vandenburg AFB. You have so much beach with zero pressure. Real peaceful out there with a lucrative return. Just need to need to sign that dotted line though.
