Berkley Fishing Products

Just curious to see how many people prefer Berkley products over other fishing products.

Their line is terrible and overpriced.  Their lightning rod is decent, but for a little more money, you can get an entry level St. Croix.  And their bait, from my experience, does not compared to Zoom, which is typically cheaper and catches more fish.

Berkley baits are okay, but not preferred by me. I don't like their rods.

Their 7" powerworm used to be my #1 fish catcher, but it's since been replaced by the culprit ribbontail worm. That is, when I decide to toss a tail worm instead of a senko-type bait.

I dont use the line, rods, or other terminal tackle.

I do have a berkley scale and some of their power worms.  Out of everything they make my favorite is the black blue 10" power worm.  Overall though I dont even look at most of their products.

i use their power worms and have had good luck with them, i use their trilene XT and XL lines and have had no issues with them, i use their rods as well(cherrywood, bionix) and havent had any issues with them...

i like the berkley stuff, it is priced well(for me anyway) and it works well...i think the way their baits stink makes a difference

To my mind, Berkley is not a consistent company.

I love their "Trilene" line, it ranks among the best monofilament lines in the world (XL, XT, Sensation and Big Game).

When their Power Worm was in vogue, I was using Manns Jelly Worms, Mister Twisters & Culprits, so I kind a missed that one.

To my knowledge they only make one jig, but it's not bad (Yelas won a tournament using the Berkley jig a few years ago)

I understand their "Gulp" products are very good, but I can't get past the smell (i.e. stench)

Currently I'm not using any Berkley lures (but I don't marry lures, so that's subject to change)

Their rods? Well...Uh....

The Big Game and Power Worms are as good as anyone elses in that price range.  

  Brands are just like tools in the tool box, theres a time and place for the right tool.

Don't care about every product they make, just the ones I was fortunate to "gain" confidence in.

Welcome aboard!

Over the years I have used many (most) of their products. The only thing I currently fish under the Pure Fishing (Berkley) umbrella is a Fenwick Techna AV rod. I don't use any of their other products or equipment.

I use a lot of there lures and line and have a few lightning rods and I FEEL CONFIDENT im going to catch something SALT OR FRESH and 98% of the time i usually do so thats all that matters .Its nice to have a company that can fill all ur needs reels/rods/lines/lures just something about it makes u feel invincible and that if u dont catch anything you no it was becuase the fish had lockjaw

I am not much for their equipment and hard baits but I do like their soft plastic, Trilene XL/XT and BigGame.  My favorite Berkley product currently is the Sabertail Bug.  The big ones just seem to love this bait.

I've been using their line for the past probably 10 years with no problems. Once in awhile if it is on sale I'll get a pack of Gulp. I've always liked their worms and they are pretty easy to get around me. The only thing I didn't like was about 10 years ago their Tournament Strength worms. They would always rip really bad after only 5 casts. The Frenzys have been great for me at times too.

Well put! Their mono line is decent, but Vanish is crap. The various soft plastics are good, but I don't like the Frenzy hardbaits. I haven't used any of their rods, but the ones I've seen seem kinda cheap.

in my opinion,there is no better worm than a 6" pumpkin chartreuse power worm...   not counting a senko of course

I'm a believer of anything that says Power Bait on it. I'm still on the fence about the GULP! stuff.....I seem to catch way too many catfish with them.

I really liked the first generation of the Series One rods, they were great. That was a LONG time ago.

i really like their powerbait stuff because its got good styles and the scent is incredible. love the 7-10" pwer worms.

I never really used many berkley products until I read Keith Jones's book, "Knowing Bass." He is the Director of Fish Research for Berkley and he definately seems to know what he is doing. Every lure they sell has been tested and tweaked for years to maximize catch (much more than any other lure manufacturer). I've recently started catching a lot of fish on the frenzy, and at $2.99 each, its hard to find a better value.

Love the lines.  XL, XT, Vanish, Big Game.  Would be all I fish if I hadn't gotten a good deal on YZ Hybrid.

I concur; just about the only line I ever use, for both ultralite and medium/heavy is Berkley Fireline.  It's DA' BOMB.  I can definitely say that I have increased my success with Fireline.  I just bought three spools of smoke 14# on e-bay last night for $19.89!  (And at this rate, it'll probably arrive before my first BPS package that I ordered on June 3rd!!)

I have alot of powerbait in my boxes.  The Trilene brand of lines is all I use.  I have tried some of hte hard baits but not enought to have an opinion on them yet.

I dont know  about that my line spooling station has been going strong for a long time
