But then how can we fish?

Maybe it's just an elaborate scheme just so we can go fishing in peace and quiet?

"What are you guna catch with that stupid thing" - almost any lure that isn't a worm

"What are you doing? Looking at bass.com" - when I'm on my phone on BR

"Watch out for the fan" - when I'm tying lures in living room

"Oh this one is mad" - while she's fighting fish

Funny, these are the same things my Husband says! Go figure?!  Thankfully I can leave him on the shore while I paddle my yak away....far, far, away!

My wife and best friend of 35 years dose fish, but not quite as hard core as me.

Her most famous saying over the years has been "It doesn't count, because you didn't get him in the boat"

Once I had a biggun on and fighting it and hollar at her to grab the net, and I sware she beat it right on the lure and it broke off, she didn't say I'm sorry, you guest it. It didn't count!!

We still have that conversation if it was a accident, she stands by her storry that it was, but I still wonder, Hmmmm ??

Mine goes once in a while just to use my back deck as a tanning bed. But, she makes one hell of a camera woman when i do catch em so that's just fine with me.

This thread is cracking me up.  Mine makes me feel so bad about myself when I come home and say they weren't biting today.

"Well, maybe you just need to watch a few more of those how-to videos so you can get better..."

For all those wishing their wives would encourage them to fish and watch fishing videos more, it doesn't feel as good when they say you NEED to.  hahaha

My wife has only fished a handful of times, mostly saltwater. She has a fear of water when she can't see the bottom. Won't swim in the ocean or lakes that are not crystal clear.

The funniest thing she said to me was recently when she found out I bought a Whopper Plopper. She complained about how much it cost for one lure. I had to remind her I just worked 21 hours of overtime at time and a half so in the grand scheme of things that lure was not so expensive.

"You should go fishing this weekend/today/tomorrow." Especially if its been crazy and I haven't had time for awhile.

"You could of gone fishing today but you chose to _______ with me." Yes, I do actually choose my wife over fishing, especially if we haven't had a lot of time to ourselves for awhile or things are hectic in her or my life. The fish will be there another day. It's just nice that she sees it that way and says something.

And finally... usually by text late in the day.."What time do you think you'll be home? Not trying to rush you or anything, just want to know what time to have dinner ready. And what would you like?"

Yes. She is my all time Keeper.

My wife always encourages me to go fishing, and always asks about the days catch.  She thinks she is married to a world class fisherman.  Lol, I never burst her bubble, by telling whole story!!!!!!!!!!

I used to just say "Dark, unless they aren't biting" but now I fish even if they don't bite. I'm crazy like that.

I used to go to the big lake and compete with bass boats, other boaters and jet skiers and come home with a few small fish. Since I bought the kayak and started fishing smaller, less-pressured waters, my wife thinks I'm an awesome fisherman.

My wife doesn't fish, but one morning before sun up back when I was learning how to fish jigs, she said "don't come home until you catch one on a jig".  Around 7:30 PM she called me wondering where I was.

During the summer she knows I'm off the lake by 11:30 unless fishing is spectacular. If I don't call or get home by 2:30 or so she's calling and checking on me. My home water is the busiest waterway per acre in the U.S. and she worries about me getting run over by a drunk boater

My wife and daughter don't really love fish, so I stopped bringing any home to cook. I will maybe one out of 10 times.

My wife also worries. I give her my location and let her know if I'm going to be with anybody else so if, God forbid, I didn't come home she would know where to send people to look.

Rob: Okay, here is 15 bags of soft plastics, which one do you want to---

Her: Pink one.

Rob: I'm not sure i wou---

Her: PINK!

First day using a bait caster/pitching. Proceeds to catch a 4lb lake erie largemouth on a pink senko on her 4th pitch ever. Best part... she man-handled it, and boat flipped it before I could get to the net.

Second best part... A perch charter with 12+ people is passing by 20 feet away cheering her on and taking pictures while she posed for them like a big shot!

Me: Just one more cast.

Her: Yeah, right.

Her: You don't need any more lures.

Me: ..............(tries not to make eye contact)

Her: Ugh.....

You guys better be nice, or it will be, "things the ex-wife says."  The only answer to that is, "where's the support check!"

Whenever we go to Walmart she will say. "Okay, I'll go get what we need and meet you over by the fishing stuff when I'm ready to go."

At Field and Stream "You've been looking at the same three lures for 20 minutes."
