Mushroom Head Jig sources?

Now that it sounds like Gopher tackle is no longer an option, where can I source mushroom head jigs with all the options that gopher tackle had.

Mushroom heads are not a new design been around for decades. Finesse mushroom heads are another story and very few under 3/16 oz were availble commercially until the past decade or so.

A freind of mine made his own by modifying round head lead jigs by flattening the front end using a arbor press and a vice. He held the jig by the trailer collar hook down head up and pressed the 1/8 oz round head flat so it will stand up. Dana used hand poured 3"  and 4" do nothing style worms in Shad colors very effectively on 4 lb test coploy line back in the 80's.

Gopher jigs are still availble, I see they Tradenamed Mushroom head, interesting with decades of prior art and use.

Arkie has decent mushroom heads. most Walmarts carry them. they are reasonably priced

I had the same question, and I use Zman TRDs quite a bit and I'm loyal to that product.  I have not been as happy with the original shroomz.

 

This year I have been using both Cabelas bed jig and Cabin Creek's spider jighead for Ned Rigging and in my opinion both are better choices than the Zman heads.  I have caught fish on both of these and my losses have been few to none.

 

The bed jig is superior to the original shroomz in my opinion because the shanks are a better length for TRDs in regular and big sizes, and the hooks seem to be better quality, or at least hold up better for me.  I have seen that Zman has come out with a new power finesse shroomz that appears to be more robust than the original shroomz.

 

I know the spider is not the same head configuration - but  also works great for me.  A very solid jig with robust and high quality hooks.

 

I got some of the Arkie mushroom-like heads from Walmart but have not tried them yet.  They were only available in very heavy sizes (for the Neg Rigs I use) of about 3/16 and 1/4 oz.

That's too bad about the Arkies.  1/16 oz are usually well stocked in the Walmarts here.

Shroomz are hard to find around these parts.

I have read  few posts here that recent orders aren't being filled, if that has changed I would love to know. The last batch I got from them was two years ago. They are great and I loved all the different hook options they had. So somebody please tell me they are still shipping orders and my problems are solved.

Pour your own using the do-it mushroom head mold, buy the finesse shroomzs, or find someone that pours there own and buy from them.

I just got an order in from them last month.  On an order I made in March!  They were never fast to ship, but that is a bit absurd.  

 

In the meantime I got some from a seller on ebay called "Yank Tackle".  They are from the new mold with wire keepers, but the seller poured them on #4 light wire hooks for me.

Gopher shipped me an order in 3-4 weeks... That order was placed a couple months back.  The government wasn't that fast with my tax return!

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of someone that pours them. At this point I wouldn't invest in the mold, and I have heard the shroomz hooks are brittle which would never survive the river rocks.

This is good to hear. I needed a Christmas gift idea for my in laws, perhaps I let him know now so we have them by Christmas. Their hook options make it worth the wait. I will check out the eBay too.

 I placed an order in May with Gopher and have not received it. I've sent 3 emails, left 4 phone messages when I could (The mailbox is usually full) but no return emails or phone calls I gave up and just using Zman TRD heads

The mold isn't that expensive and pays for itself quickly considering the price of the things. I pour my own and have been really happy with them.

I have both the Midwest finesse mold that pours the jig in your pic, and the worm nose jig mold.  While I do prefer the jigs the mwf mold pours, that thing takes like 15 minutes per jighead  to get a complete pour, because of the narrower cavity and wire keeper.  It keeps coming out incomplete, while the worm nose works every time.  Have you found a way to get consistently complete pours out of your mold?

He does, but only with #1 hooks.  I like Gophers mainly for the smaller hooks.  It looks like the new mold can take smaller ones, but I have yet to try these;

Maybe that's my problem, can't get the lead as hot when melting on a stove.
