Smallmouth fishing at night?

I smoke 'em at the dam here on Black/Chart KVD 1.5s at night, but I also smoke 'em on them during the day...

Reading this reminded my of a trophy Smallmouth bass angler in Tennessee who targeted smallies at night. Skinny Harris who tied my hair jigs sent me a photo of a 8 lb smallmouth caught at night using a single spin spinnerbait, #3 copper hammered Colorado blade tied by Skinny using the Frits color combo hair; brown back with red and charteues. The bass was caught in 8' of water on a stump row ledge.

Billy westmorland was rumored to have lost a world record size smallie on the jump and would go back after it all the time in the wee hours of the morning on dale hollow

I lost my PB LMB and SMB on back to back casts last summer. Sickening. Trebles....

I met Westmoreland at Horse Creek Dock one evening. We were cooking Walleye we had caught the day before and Billy came by and ate with us. He told the story of that fish and saiid he had it beat until the last minute the fish took a deep run and pulled free of a pedigue spinirght. The next morning we were out for a couple hours of Silver Buddy instruction, he was a very nice man. Also had the pleasure to fish the Billy Westmoreland invitational Tournament for many years. I still get an invitation every year, just don't have anyone interested in fishing the first weekend in December.

We use to have a lot of fun throwing a Jitterbug on the river at night in late summer.  Smallmouth would crush them.

got my pb smallie 6ib just about dark on topwater. buy a headlamp and your all set. stuff that makes noise
