Alright.  I mainly wanted to ask why do my reels make a audible noise upon retrieve with a somewhat rough feeling coming from the gears.  All my reels seem to have this issue.  My Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 ( bought 6 months ago ), my lews mach II( bought a year ago, so I can kinda understand, but it also started this noise issue a couple months after owning it) and my recently acquired *** *** reel.

I know that these 3 reels aren't super high end, but I expected all of them to not acquire almost the exact same noise/feeling in such short periods after owning them.  I know I don't take the best care of my reels either, but I do keep them in my room, and have cleaned them.  I can almost pinpoint the noise too.  It always feels like it is coming from right where the pinion gear meets the spool bearing/main gear.  I wouldn't worry about them making the noise if I couldn't feel the vibration going into the rods blank, just feels like it messes with me.  Just wondering if there was a way to quiet it down a notch, or if I am stuck with the noise due to it being lower end reels.

If the noise it loud or vibrates the line if it's bad enough the vibrations/ noise can actually go down the line like a guitar string being plucked. Grease your reels I do every winter they get cleaned. But if they need new line during the season I clean and grease them too.

i was using a cheap spinning reel I used for trout when I first started bass fishing seriously. She clanked away. I'm fishing a pond deep in the woods that was gin clear. I'm on a rock that's 4' above the water. I can see my line where it enters the water. I had a big bluegill turned on an angle listening to my line were it entered the water. I purchased new reels right away do to this reel was very worn out. The bass killed it.

Welcome first of all. 2 of the 3 reel you have are on the same platform so similar performance can be expected.  Some level of sound should be expected from modern light weight reels. If what you're experiencing is normal or not can't be diagnosed without seeing it. Since its multiple reels across brands I wouldn't worry too much. Send them in if you'd like and mention your BassResource.com screen name to get 10% off labor.

Reels that aren't that old shouldn't have an issue with lubrication yet. Normally they are over greased at the factory in anticipation that the user will not clean the reel or grease it properly. I would do a full breakdown of the reel, clean, and then re-grease the gears. I wouldn't grease the pinion gear just the main one. I actually take a soft brush on a rotary tool to clean and semi polish my gear teeth on both the main gear and the pinion. I haven't damaged a gear yet with that process and feel it might help some with the overall smoothness of my reel. I know doing that isn't for everyone, but I really enjoy tuning my reels and polishing all friction points
