Hello Everyone. I have a 2006 Pro Team 170 and am a little disappointed that I did not get a different boat because of the lack of storage space. I was fishing with my buddy this past weekend and he had a 175 that had two extra compartments in the back next to the livewell. I am wondering if anyone in here has any experience with adding additional storage t these boats. I have searched the internet for layout diagrams and am unable to find any to see where I would be able to cut some additional space into. Any help with modification to these types of boats or adding storage space will be greatly appreciated.

Yes Zel I have not seen those before but they would be perfect for wha I am looking to do. My only setback is that I am scared to cut out the floor not knowing what is under it i.e. wiring, pumps, lines, etc. I guess what I am really looking for is someone that is knowledgeable with the two and whether or not they are configured the same underneath the floor in the back. I measured them and they are very similar in dimensions so I do not see where they could be different, but hey who knows. Thank you very much for the link Zel. I am definitely going to be checking in to those as soon as I find out that I will be good to cut it out.

Since I don't fish tourneys I turned my live well into a storage area.  My 1989 Pro17 has even less space than your boat.  I gotta ask, didn't you look at the 175 when you were boat shopping?  Even if you did there is a pretty hefty price difference just to get a little more storage space.  Here's another idea that I hit upon not long after getting my boat...take less stuff.  If you try you will be amazed at how much stuff you take that you probably never use.  Good luck with your project, whatever you decide to do.

Hey how many rods can you fit in the 170's locker ?  I just bought a new 07' 170, and have yet to do any thing but bring it home and lock it in the garage. I have around 18 bass fishing rod/reel combo's and would like to think I could carry at least 5-7 of them with me on the boat.

After checking Tracker.com it has to be part of the price differenc of $3,000.00 you think that 2 compatments wouldn't be that costly go figure.

Farmer,

Good luck with that.....every time I put more than 1 rod in ther rod locker on my 170, they get tangled.  Maybe it is just my mistake luck, but they seem to always get tangled no matter what. The way the rod locker is set up where you  have to slide them in, makes it borderline worthless, IMO.

Overall, I am satisfied with the boat, and think it is a good value, but the rod locker and storage overall is my biggest complaint.

when I look at my next boat, I will really look at something with enough deck space to have a rod locker that opens up from the top and allows more space for storage on the back deck.

How do you like your 89? My Dad is looking into one that we found on craigslist for a real killer deal.

Well curosity got the best of me, went out to the garage, and was able to fit 10 rods in the locker, and lay 4 on the deck. Also loaded the boat up with just about every thing I own, the 2 front compartments are bursting full, and the under seat spaces are there is still room. I will rarely if ever carry this much with me as I don't fish tournaments, so looks like I got plenty of room and some to spare.  I went back and looked at the 175 literature I had, rod locker, and front storage seem to be the same. No gain in that area by stepping up to the next boat.

MattStrykul,

I like it a lot.  It has the original 40hp Evinrude motor that runs great.  I only paid 1k for it and it gives me a great deal of pleasure to be fishing next to people in their 10k+ boats and catch just as many fish.  I will say I have upgraded the trolling motor and added a fishfinder since I got her.  Good luck with the one your Dad is looking at.

Cool, thanks alot. This one does have an upgraded outboard, trolling motors and fish finder. 1K is a great price, you cant pass up one like that.
