Paul8877 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Ok, my brother has this aluminum boat that he bought from a guy who used it for striper fishing on the Cumberland river. It has a big livewell/baitwell, steering console, 74lb thrust minn kota trolling motor and he bought this lowarance fishfinder/depth finder/gps for it and I think that thing alone cost him $1500. He has used this boat twice and owned it for 5 years now. I also know he bought the trolling motor brand new as well. I tried a few years back and he wouldnt sell it to me unless I'd give up an arm or leg. A few years later, my dad asked him last night if he knew anyone with a bass boat for sale in the 3500-4000 range and he said no, why, are you looking and dad told him no I'm not looking, lil brother wants one. So he told my dad he would sell it for $3000. Do you all think this is a good deal? The boat has also been stored always indoors, my dad said he bought an expensive cover for it a few years ago too. What do you all think? I really want a boat for bass fshing and once in awhile going down to the river to fish for cats. Is 20' too too long? Quote
northgabassfisher Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 sounds like a good deal but but you got to see if its a good deal lol. there is only one way to tell if a boat is a good deal and thats for you to go look and the boat, check the compression, check the trailer, check the hull, check the keel, go out on the boat for a test drive not once but 2,3,or4 time. but just go look at it and you will find out for your self. Super User Jig Man Posted March 31, 2007 Super User Posted March 31, 2007 I would look it up for you if you had mentioned the kind of boat. You can look in the NADA Guides and get a good idea what the average selling price should be. 20' sounds like a good length to provide a good safe stable boat. If you decide to buy it change the water pump impellor before you use it very much. Quote
Fedxpress Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Do you know the brand boat and motor on it. If so then like they said go to NADA and look it up. Offer him less then this of course. Is it a flat bottom or a V hull, Center console etc. Fedxpress Quote
Paul8877 Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 I know it has a 50hp merc on it. My dad told me it is a wide boat too. Quote
