callyer Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hey guys, I am fixing up an old '86 Aerodyne 20' tournament boat and it didn't come with any manuals for the boat. I was hoping someone could help me figure out the livewell system. I have two live wells, two thru hull pumps (with overflow outlets in the wells), two recirc (aerator) pumps. At the bow there is a livewell control center that has an automatic timer knob and a manual/ automatic switch. There are two main power breakers one labled main livewell, one labled Auxilliary livewell. Also there is a livewell switch on the Accessories panel (photo of back). and a switch for each livewell at the back deck. (that's alot of stuff!) The other day I was out and wanted to test the livewells while fishing a little, I flipped on the main switches and flipped the Accessory panel switch, and one of the wells began to fill, once that one was full, the other filled as well, it was here my testing went down the tubes. I wanted to try to get them to just use the recirculation pumps to see if they would work properly so I tried using the Accessory panel switch (this may have worked had this switch not broken) It had no resistance, or stops and clearly was not operating properly. I tryed flipping front from auto to manual.. and flipping the back switches on and off. i finally just turned them off at the main breakers. I basically need to replace this switch (so any info on type of switch.. double pull.. single this... tripple that.. etc. would be helpful) and in the process I am hoping to gain a better understanding of how this system is supposed to be working so I can make sure everything is right. Super User cart7t Posted March 30, 2007 Super User Posted March 30, 2007 Looks like a DP/ST (double pole, single throw). Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted March 30, 2007 Super User Posted March 30, 2007 that switch may be hard to come by locally. A double pole, double throw, on/on will work just the same, it will just have the terminals at the top that's missing on yours. Just don't use those terminals on the dp/dt. It will install and operate just the same as your switch. Just don't get and on off on, it will work but not feel exactly like yours. I will have an on in the up and down postions but will have a center off position. Like I said, it will still work exactly the same if wired the same as yours but won't have the same feel because it will have that center position it can stop in. Quote
