still waiting to see if I should I stay or go

could be potenially more dangerous for me to leave than stay

flying my family back to WV tomorrow

I was leaning towards leaving but Im hearing theres no rooms for 500+ miles. ( and this is 4+ days before it hits) They are saying it will move by quickly which will potentially drop less rain.So Im not worried about the lake coming up very far.

Weve still got our camping gear if we have to get out. Hopefully it wont come to that. Many of us in the jax. area are staying.Next 2 days we'll be battening down our hatches. Pray for us,and the whole state .

Gotta bug out fellas!

My son is on a barrier island off Melbourne on the east coast and they must evavuate by 3:00 pm tomorrow. He has a motorhome and heading north tonight.  He doesn't know where he'll end up but at least I know he'll be safer than taking it head on which they're expecting..

My problem now is that my daughter is on the sw coast where my home is and Mrs Mike and I are still tying to get to them as my granddaughter has MS and very sick.

I stayed for Hurrican Charlie and swore I wouldn't do that again, this time is different.

Gotta bug out guy's..Grab the kids and go, the rest is just stuff

News from Dave Toleris, the independent weather guy explaining what Irma is going to do.  Not a good picture.

All of you impacted by the storm be sure to get back with us as soon as possible and let us know you and your families are OK.

I may start a new topic for posts from everyone impacted by the storm.

I sent my family away. It took them 12 hours just to get out of the state. I stayed behind. I am preparing for the worst. I know that if I make it out ok my next few weeks will be helping those who were not as fortunate. To all in this path good luck and God speed.

Just read your link. The comparison between Andrew and Irma is unbelievable! I was young went Andrew went through so my memory is foggy. I do remember though that it was a bad hurricane.

Stay safe everyone!

I vaguely remember Andrew and do not look forward to this one. We got out of Miami yesterday morning just before they ordered the evacuation. It's nuts out there. We are in Naples now and hopefully we will be OK here but we do have back up plans if need be.

Stay safe everyone.

Be safe.

Made it through relatively unharmed.

Lost my mailbox but that is because my buddy can't back up a bass boat.

Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes.

Will update you guys later.

Just so you know I am in the Port Charlotte area

Have family down there sounds like most are doing good so far, some stayed and some left. I was down in Tallahassee this spring, even though these hurricanes are hell on us, that ecosystem down there needs them, running all the way up north into the Appalachian's. glad to see the moisture return down there as I didn't want to spend my winter in the southeast on fire. Good luck to all down there, god bless

Glad to hear you made it unharmed. You go through a hurricane and only lose power for 6 hours? Not too bad. We have a wind storm here and lose it for 8+ hours.

Just an update All of my friends and loved ones are safe with minimal damage. Trees are down all over the place but luckily I only saw one on a house.

I honestly feel hurricane Irma was overhyped and had a feeling it wasn't going to compare to hurricane Wilma, let alone Hurricane Andrew. The light only went out for 8 hours in my area and the damage it caused was typical of a low category 1 hurricane. The canal by my house didn't even flood to the street, with hurricane Wilma the canal was +2 feet of water over the road and you could not tell where the canal started or ended in many places. I give hurricane Irma a 3 out of 10, hurricane Wilma a 5 out of 10, and hurricane Andrew a 10 out of 10. We did get some +100mph gust in my area, which was interesting to see since it's been over 12 years since I have seen that.

Naples got it pretty bad and lost power. We got back to Miami this afternoon and was greeted with power and internet. Showers never felt so good!

Kinda hard not to over hype it after Harvey a week before. Seemed like Irma kept her power through the Bahamas but lost strength north of Cuba.

Anybody talking about Jose? I heard them mention it on the radio this morning and that's all I've heard recently.

The Keys weren't so lucky. Devastation there by reports I've

been reading. Niece and her family in Miami lost power but

not for long. They are in new construction with underground

power cables, and in a non-flood/evac zone apparently.

Glad for those who weathered relatively unscathed, very sad

for those who've been devastated. Thoughts and prayers...

As far as Jose, all the models I've looked at have it looping

around, brushing the East Coast, maybe, and heading out

into the Atlantic.

If you look at the graphic here, (use your arrow keys right and

left to progress thru the map) you'll see the current GFS thinking.

Sorry, but over hyped? Insensitive much? Tell that to the thousands in Key West, Naples, Miami, Bonita Springs, and I could go on and on. I had 120 mph winds at my house, some had higher.

Sorry, but this whole experience is still too raw to even entertain the idea of over hype.
