Quarry Man Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Any body have a chance to fish either one yet? My friend has a sponsorship card for 45% off. I was thinking of trying one out, not sure which one is better. 1 Quote

npl_texas Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Yes. K is obv larger. It takes the body (minus 10%) of the I series and gives it the smoothness of the 70 (and Chronarch with Micro Module gearing). I have decided after fishing the K's that I will not be purchasing any more Chronarch MGL's. I also see no reason, other than size, to purchase a 70 over a K. Quote
Super User deep Posted September 3, 2017 Super User Posted September 3, 2017 10 threads about different reels from different manufacturers... 2 1 Quote
CroakHunter Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Please just buy something! Tired of seeing 1057 threads from you asking about reels. 2 1 1 Quote
CTBassin860 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I had the K in my hand today. It's small and very comfortable. I'm buying it next week. I had the 70 for about a week and never got to fish it,but pitched into cups and stuff in the house. Both are very nice reels. Watching videos the K casts farther than the 200i. I'm stoked to pick up the K. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I do not have a K yet, but I do have two 70 XGs and based on what I have read about the K, it appears that the two reels are different but similar, if that makes any sense. I would guess that at the same price point, go for either one, unless having the latest model is more important to you, then go for the K. Quote
3crows Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I own a 70XG. I have several Curado Is of various flavor. I have seen and handled the K, lol. To me, the 70 is a little (70 size) reel with big reel gearing and power. The new 200 K is a 200 size reel with 150 size feel. We may be splitting hairs but I do not see them occupying the same niche. I am not an expert on reels or anything else fishing. Quote

Since I picked up a couple MGL's over the past 2-3 months I will now be sure to go out of my way to not get within 10 feet of a K... 2 Quote
Can't Catch Bass Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Sorry to ressurect and old thread, but does the k series use the same knob as the 70 series? Quote
The Bassman Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 No. It's bigger. I never cared for the smaller knobs. I even switched out the knobs on my Ald. for PG II grips. Looks a little big but feels great. Quote
