JDoG4344 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 So on opening day of dove season here in Delaware, I got 8 doves (I did pretty bad: 70 shots for 7 doves [it was my first dove hunt]). In the afternoon, most everyone had left and i was able to convince a few doves to fly right in to my decoy setup. What I could not do was call any in. So I wonder if I did anything wrong. Do you guys have any calling tips for doves? Quote
Clinton john Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Doves don't call to each other when in flight. What we have done and tends to work good is when hunting along a tree line or power line and a dove lands down a ways from you sit still and make the three note call that does do when they are sitting or eating and they will jump and come in for a look see. But to my knowledge your not going to be very successful calling Doves like you can call ducks and geese. We worry more about hunting where they are feeding or going to water, even better if there is a power line or tree line next to it, if it's a tree line look for a dead tree, that will be the tree they land in. Hope this helps you sir. 1 Quote
