BD Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I've already posted 'Got My Boat' thread, in another restoration thread, I was saying my brother was working on building a new boat too. Here are his pic's. I would hope LBH would be proud I was really hoping while he did it, he would have taken more pictures, but it went from nasty to nice in a couple of sweat equity months. Those looking for their first boats, you can find one or BUILD one, and not spend a ton of money. I got mine "cheap" (I wish I had the time to do what my younger brother did here, but I don't), he got that boat for $400, then did the rest!!! (He's made an amazing boat now in nothing but time and energy) Non-Boaters, you don't need an expensive rig to catch the pigs. 8-) I can assure you, you'll be seeing pic's of hogs from us. Quote
-badhabit- Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 He did an A+ job and should be proud of it! Quote
bassboy1 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Is that a 16 foot 1980s tracker? The interior framing looks similar to all that I have seen. What HP is that nissan on the back? How much did the whole thing cost, because even though the boat was 400 (which ain't bad for a stripped aluminum hull) the interior gets expensive. My Lund, which had an interior that needed to be completely gutted, cost only 600, then another 600 for a 1971 50 horse Johnny (a little steep. We were clueless when we bought it) Then about 600 - 700 for a trailer, in which we welded ourself so we only bought parts. Then 250 for 3 sheets of marine plywood. Plus 200 for flotation foam. also gas tanks bilge pumps batteries trolling motors, wiring, lights, gauges, the list goes on... More than it looks from the start. Plus lots of time. Yalls, didn't look as expensive as mine, but still costs more than many would think. Many people have started a project, thinking it will save them money, but have gone bankrupt, and it sits for years, ruining the work they had done. Sorry to ramble, I'm bored. Quote
SteveFinMD Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Great job. Looking forward to the pics of those hogs. Quote
BD Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 He's got in it total around 1k I think he said. He did good I feel too. Thanks for the replies. I think his nissan is a 40, but not 100% on that. Quote
MattStrykul Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 1K? Thats awesome. My brother and I are in desperate need of a better boat :-[ Quote
bassboy1 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 1000? So that means he got the boat + motor + trailer for 400, as opposed to just the boat? One lucky duck. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 26, 2007 Super User Posted March 26, 2007 Wow. That is an impressive rig. Nothing like doing it yourself! Quote
