Today at work was our Employee Appreciation Day. We worked for 3.5 hrs and then boss man treated us to lunch at Brocato's in Alexandria, Louisiana. It was delish! After we ate boss man acknowledged each employee individually to recognize their efforts. To my surprise I was awarded Overall Top Employee of the year with a framed certificate and also my first ever baitcaster. A 6'10" MHF Lew's American Hero Speed Stick IM6 with a Lew's American Hero Speed Spool Laser AH1SHG 7.1:1 baitcasting reel. I was speechless, and still kinda am. Now it's time to spool it up and go fishing. An absolute great start for the Labor Day weekend! Thank You Lord! ?

Congratulations Michael!!

Your hard work has obviously been recognized and it sounds like a great place to work.

What is it you folks do!

Now get you some line and spool that thing up. There might be a thread or 2 discussing what line to use on that New toy. Adjust it and have fun!

We make Rat-L-Traps. I work at Bill Lewis Outdoors. My job is to spray eyes, dot eyes, paint and dip(top coat) the lures.

Thanks y'all! Got it spooled up and my new Z-Man chatter bait tied on. Time to go learn how to use it. Be back in a few. Hopefully with some pics of bass I caught with my new rod.

Congrat man, you deserved it.

Take it easy with your new reel, make sure to set everything properly. I wouldn't use chatterbait as your practice, may be some 1/2 bullet weight would be better. Another thing don't think to get a mile cast at first, try to get a feeling of baitcasting and educate your thumb.

It was only a 3/8oz chatter bait. After between 5 and 10 birdnests, one I didn't think I was gonna untangle, I adjusted the brake some and casting got alot better. Still need to tweak it some more though.

So, how many fish on the baitcaster?

Lol...none yet. Still getting the hang of it. Got it to where the backlashing and birdnests are fairly minimal. I can actually get a decent distance with a cast, although I know that's not as important as accuracy. Still working on the accuracy part. I do remember to adjust the spool tensioner knob and the MCS when tying on different lures/baits though. So far I've used a chatter bait, pad crasher and a Rat-L-Trap. Not even a bite yet. Going to give it another shot in the morning though. I did have a first this evening, it was with my Lew's spinning rod. Fixing to go post it in the Latest Catch Pics section.
