Jim Sutter Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 J Francho, Thank you, for that information. This evening, I will tie on a jointed black jitterbug. Have a great weekend. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 2, 2017 Global Moderator Posted September 2, 2017 As much as I hate to say it because I'm not a fan of Livingston, their Walking Boss Part II (which is basically a big, jointed Jitterbug), has been a good bait for me. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I only fish a JitterBug at night. I've used both and really can't say one was better than the other. If you're using them during the day, the fish might prefer one over the other. I use a muskie size that I modified by removing the side hook hangers and adding a single one to the belly. Makes a lot of noise and moves a lot of water. Did I mention that I've caught some big girls on it? Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 3, 2017 Super User Posted September 3, 2017 I think a lot of anglers are missing the boat on this lure. They simply don't use it that often because it's "old school". Big mistake. I've have great success fishing Jitterbugs during the noon time hours as well as dusk and dawn. Doesn't seem to matter much to the bass if I'm tossing solid or jointed styles. One of my favorites! Quote
Super User JustJames Posted September 3, 2017 Super User Posted September 3, 2017 I lost 2 jitterbugs this year, solid black and joint frog. Bought 3" version and a 3 packs 2.5" to replace but I feel the weight and action is not the same. I think the hooks on newer ones are smaller. Quote
RPreeb Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 About 55 years ago I caught a 3" largemouth on a 3" jitterbug. He could barely get one hook of the treble in his mouth, but he hit that sucker anyway. I thought I had hooked a weed when it stopped wobbling. It was a solid one, if that matters. I don't think there were any jointed ones yet then, at least I never saw one. Quote
