45user Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I have some bass pro gift cards that I got for various occasions that I can purchase about 2 of above mentioned rods im looking to buy a casting rod and a spinning rod For a casting rod, I'm looking for kind of a multipurpose rod in length of 6.5-7', Medium power rod. For a spinning rod, im looking to do DS and finesse soft baits in 6.5-7', ML rod at basspro they carry E6X, Avid and mojo what would you recommend me for above? Thank you for your help! Quote
MrPeanut Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I've owned one of each of those rods, I would say in my experience I like the blank on the avid the best. I would try to get each one in hand though, each of the handles are very different on those 3 1 Quote
padon Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 My opinion avid is more rod for the money than e6x I would go 7ft medium heavy cast.and 69 med lite xfast spin. 1 Quote

Definitely put both rods in your hand to see what feels right to you. If you're talking about the Avid... hmmm, probably same suggestion to hold each rod. ] Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 2, 2017 Global Moderator Posted September 2, 2017 If you could do a 6' 6" MH/F Avid X, I have one with pretty light use I'll sell you for way less than new price, like around $140 shipped. A nice rod, I just have so many in that range that I rarely use it. 1 Quote

Closest basspro from me is about 45miles away and local tackle shops really don't have varieties in freshwater rods to try them Which rod is more sensitive between these two? thank you again! 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted September 2, 2017 Super User Posted September 2, 2017 I tried both and the e6x just felt better in hand. I have 3 and am very happy....There isn't a wrong decision here! 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted September 2, 2017 Super User Posted September 2, 2017 I like the E6X better, but imo both are about the same in hand and use. 1 Quote
45user Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Does the avid x casting rod come with micro guides? I use braid on all my reels with short flourocarbon leader most of the time and I don't want it to hang up in the guides.. does anyone have problem with micro guides on avid x? thank you again! Turkey sandwich Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 It does, but a good leader knot should be fine. It is extremely rare that I have braid to leader problems fishing microguides. 1 Quote
45user Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 I use Alberto and modified Alberto not sure how they are in size compare to FG knot which I know many use these days thanks for your help!!! Brian Quote
Hulkster Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I own both an Avid M power spinning rod and an E6X M power spinning rod and I too prefer the E6X. for all purpose casting the MBR series tapers are hard to beat. I find I prefer the taper on the Loomis rods over the Avid that I own. both are really great blanks though. 1 Quote
