So on the lake I fished I have tried several colors and lures but for some reason this specific color setup just slays fish.. always guaranteed with this color but idk what it resembles? Not a sunfish or bluegill.  Maybe shad? White, red, with a little silver and black to it. Or some blue flake with whites and silvers .. anything with those colors always work.. even tried a rattle trap that was white, red eyes and clear/silver stomach and instantly caught fish..

Wounded shad. Supposed to resemble blood I think. Doubt the fish really notice the speckles of red but if it's working, it's working.

So it's supposed to resemble a shad though? The white and silver Or white and backish silver is a shad color

Don't get too concerned about what it resembles. If they eat it, fish it. What does a chartreuse spinnerbait resemble? Or a buzzbait? I was doing good on a bright, solid blue bladed jig Tuesday, what does that look resemble? I really don't care, the fish were eating it is all that matters to me.

I have a good friend who is a biologist and his job is mostly doing environmental surveys of small rivers and streams.  He doesn't fish but has spent many hours watching me.  Quite often he will comment about how much some of my lures resemble small forage fish and invertebrates when they are in the water.

That's why I love that picture I posted of the dead shad and my spinnerbait.  I was so shocked how much they looked alike.  I was even more shocked that I caught that fish so soon after tying it on.  I can only assume that the bass was pushing the shad up on the bank and I happened to walk by at exactly the right moment with the right lure.
