My current rods are a cheap 5.5 foot Shakespear reverb combo rod and Cherrywood HD, and I'm looking to get something more substantial for my main gear. Preferably 7.0-foot medium fast, and it needs to be a 2 piece due to trying to fit it in the back seat of my focus. Even though I know the lightning rod is highly suggested for a budget rod, they don't make them in 2-piece. So I was hoping you folks could toss a good selection of suggestions of models that may or may not come in 2-piece.

My next 2-piece rod purchase is going to be the Kastking Perigee II For $60 it comes with 3 pieces. The handle and 2 tips with different actions.

You can get a Medium Light and Medium or a Medium and a Medium Heavy. Like getting 2 rods for the price of one.

As far as transporting rods goes I can't imagine my Elantra is much bigger than your Focus. If I fold down a rear seat I am able fit my 7' one piece rods down the middle. I only have 2 piece rods for trips where I will not be able to fold down the rear seat.

I recently purchased a 2 piece Kistler M.A.D rod. You must go through their build your own rod program. BUT, if you re looking for the best 2 piece rods, Trey @ Kistler rods will build it for you. Send him an email first informing him of the rod you want so he can get the 2 piece blank required to build it. Kistler makes great rods. You ll be proud of it

I've used a few 2 piece casting and spinning rods. Of the bunch within your price range, Fenwick was my favorite.

St Croix premiere was nice but heavy.

Abu's 2 pieces are like broom sticks.

XIII rods fish at their price point. Nothing special. Good cs.

Back when Shimano had a lifetime warranty I tired their Clarus and Compre rods and really liked those.

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you, folks, for the suggestions.

the veritas 3.0 is coming out in 5 days... Maybe check it out. Already on Abu's website so you can read specs and different action/lengths available. I love my 2.0, both of them...

Shimano makes a couple of 2-piece rods.  To me limited lifetime warranty is okay for this situation because the rods are relatively affordable.  I have an older 2-piece compre spinning and had a 2-piece casting clarus.  Very good in my humble opinion.  More than adequately sensitive, they'll fit in the trunk and they'll get the job done. I just wish I wasn't forced to leave my casting rod in Mexico. I had to leave it with family and never saw the rod again.

@NYWayfarer - sounds very decently priced.  I'm going to check it out. Thanks.

Consider the 2-pc Fenwick Eagle. I bought a 7-ft med/mod-fast a few weeks ago as a trunk rod (aka my main rod) to replace a Veritas that did not last a year for me.  Retails for about $60.

I like the feel of the Eagle so far.  I've thrown lightweight weightless worms and 1/16 oz - 1/8 oz ned rigs on it.  Though maybe someone with more experience would chime in about how sensitive it is considering the blank is not exposed.

I've caught quite a few fish in a short period of time so far with it.  My hookup ratio must be around 90%.  Considering I have only been throwing lightweight plastics, maybe there is the answer about sensitivity of this rod.

I am going to echo what @bigturtle and @snake95 said and suggest a Fenwick as well. They've made some changes to the HMG line (due to be released this month) so the "older" version should be on sale.

I have 7 rods in my Altima right now, including a 7'6" flipping rod. If you put them in on the passenger side, you can get a 7'+ rod in a Focus pretty easily.

Wow.  That's basically a bassboat on wheels.

I'm considering picking up a 2 piece casting rod as well and tossing a cheap reel, the reason being I work 40 minutes away from home, but also by some of the closest lakes with bass fishing and I don't want to leave my one piece rods inside my car in a sketchy parking garage where someone could easily swipe them.

The only thing I really find for a 2 piece casting rod is an Ugly Stik GX2.

I am not sure if I could fit a 7'6" rod in my Cadillac Brougham! Maybe if I go from the passenger's seat to the rear driver's side seat, but I put my rods in the front middle to the rear middle so my other seats are still usable and I have a few inches to spare on a 7' rod but there's less space on the way in and out too. I am hoping the 7'2" rod I just picked up is going to fit, I think it should be fine.

My oldest casting rod is a 2 piece 6'10" Shimano Clarus that I have paired with a BPS PQ reel.  It's been a great rod for me and I even got a great deal on it for $40 when I bought it.  Looks like they are right around $100 now unless you can find a similar deal.
