GoneFishingLTN Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I have a rod I enjoy that has a broken guide about you guides from the last one. And have it just taped for now how can I get this fixed and roughly how much? Or should I just make due with the tape? Quote
Chance_Taker4 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 it will be able to get fixed as for price it all depends on the going rate in your area. I would suggest looking for a rod repair shop or a rod builder in your area that can fix it for ya. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I get $7.50 to rewrap a single foot guide. Parts are extra if needed. For comparison sake. Shipping two ways might be prohibitive. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 30, 2017 Super User Posted August 30, 2017 You can go to a local mon & pop tackle shop and most do this type of repair, est about $10. Another option, depending on the rod type and quality, is to repair it yourdpself. You can go online and watch a how to wrap rod guides vedio or look at written instructions with illustrations. Check all your guides from cracks with a cotton Q-tip, you may have a few guides that need to be changed. Tom Quote

Quarry Man Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I had a replacement sent to me. It was a double foot guide. i used sandpaper to remove the resin and put electrical tape on the blank next to the resin to prevent damage. next i wrapped the guide in small thread. I used electoral tape afterwords. i recommend gluing and wrapping it tightly. not a great fix, but its quick and cheap and temporary. Quote
