Super User iceintheveins Posted August 30, 2017 Super User Posted August 30, 2017 Has anyone tried the new zoom frogs that float? Not the horny toads but the brand new ones. Quote

moguy1973 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 For $10/3 frogs I hope they better be a little more durable than the horny toads are. As for colors, from my experience with other buzz frogs black and white are the only ones you need. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 They look interesting, but not $3.33 each interesting. All of the toads I've tried only last a couple fish, so that could get expensive fast. I do find it strange that a brand known for being affordable is now selling one of the more expensive toads on the market. 1 Quote

Switched to a homemade Teckel Sprinker frog and will probably never go back. 1 Quote

Lil fat guy Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Has anyone tried these yet lol? I wouldn't hate on anything without trying it first. I have not used them yet so I don't know about durability, but they claim it's a more elastic material that will stretch more. If these were elaztech people would be excited. They'd probably never tear. Now these likely won't be as good as elaztech but who knows, they may be more durable than we think...just sayin...I am planning on ordering some to try myself! But then again I think I'm one of those suckers that always falls for the latest and greatest tackle! ??? Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted August 31, 2017 Super User Posted August 31, 2017 I had not heard of them before this thread, but if they have really managed to make a toad that floats, has durable legs, will not rip off the hook, and will hold the hook well enough to stay weedless and allow good hooksets, well then I will gladly pay ten bucks for three of them. YoTone Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 what hooks do yall recommend with these frogs? im looking to pick some up. Quote

I'm a big fan of these Double Take hooks that Stanley makes for their Ribbit Frogs. They fit perfectly on a Ribbit & you get a much better hookup ratio. I also use the these for Zoom Horny Toads, but it takes a bit more adjusting & finessing to get the hooks to fit just right. The new Zoom frogs look similar to the Ribbits in body shape, so I'm thinking these hooks might work. I'm holding off on these new Zoom frogs. They're quite expensive & I've got way, way too many Ribbits & Horny Toads I need to use before I start buying new buzzing frogs. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted August 31, 2017 Super User Posted August 31, 2017 I only have a pack or two of Horny Toads and Rage Toads, neither of which I am super impressed with, so I am going to throw a pack on the new toads onto whatever Labor Day sale order I make. I really like the idea of a floating toad and used the Zman ones for a while, but they really don't like to stay on the hook. Quote
Chance_Taker4 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I'll stick with my Noisey Flappers. 1 Quote
faygo1979 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Looks like a competitor to the stanly top toad for me.. That has to be one of my favorite top waiter frogs I use. Quote
primetime Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 The one thing I love about Zoom and frogs are the Horny Toad Hooks. Great price, red and nickel, also good on big swimbaits....I am sure the new toads will catch fish, so many good toads on the market...Horny Toad, Ribbit, Manns, Larew 3 legged, Gambler toads...I am fully stocked but I am sure I will grab a pack if I see them, Buying frogs is just fun.
