Hi I am Englishman new to this site and Bass Fishing. This June I started fishing with bobber and crawlers catching Sunfish mainly and the odd small bass, I quickly decided to upgrade and pursue the bass. To cut a long story short I bought a load of Daiwa BG spinning reels in various sizes and coupled up with G Loomis and St Croix baitcaster of various types, I had only used spinning reels in England as we only use multiplier reels for deep sea over there. Now it turns out this is a mortal sin and my rods will likely break if I get a biggie on, and my casting is never going to be what it should, I had no idea what that trigger thing was for and just ignored it. ps I have caught quite a few bass but only up to ~2lb. What should I do??

Welcome aboard!

Easy solution is to buy some spinning rods to

accompany the BG reels.

Other solution, buy a baitcaster(s). Issue being

that you'll need to really practice the art before

using as it can and will be a nightmare until you

learn.

I'd just buy some spinning rods.

Good luck!

I think the Spinning rods is the option I am a demon with a spinning reel :), probably spent $800 on the rods, anyone know a good site for selling slightly used rods?

The Flea Market forum is the place to list your rods by make and model for sale or trade.

Keep in mind shipping cost for rods is high and most use PVC tubing to ship fishing rods in.

Cost average about $30 a rod to ship within the US.

Welcome to the BR site.

Daiwa BG spinning reels, what size do you have?

Welcome. That is subliminal messaging from your bait monkey. He's always been with you even if you never were aware. Buy yourself 1-2 spinning rods to go with the reels you already have. There will come a time in the near future that you will feel the desire try casting reels since you're in the US now and you'll be ready since you have two casting rods.

Buy 1 good spinning rod, used of course AND 1 good baitcast reel.

You will be glad you learned the virtues of each!

BTW Riingo, welcome to the forum sir!

Best thing to do is start with about 10 spinning rods and 10 baitcasters then you can spend your evenings looking for even more....
