Ksam1234 Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I got a few answers but looking a little deeper. If you guys are out fishing on a small lake, it's 45 acres. The middle is filled with weeds and has a lot of vegetation , then the outer has some vegetation but pretty shallow 6ft or less, there aren't many laydowns maybe one or two logs up shallow. my question is if your catching bass st one spot would you move or change lures? This weekend I went out and was catching tons of bass in the middle area on a spinnerbait but nothing really big. I know this lakeholds some good 4-6 pounders but I fished for 8 hours with just smaller ones. Would you guys move away to hope and try to find the big momma? Change the lure even though I'm catching a lot? Quote
BuzzHudson19c Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Yes. I usually don't leave fish to find fish but there are times when you get on a school of nothing special or an area just doesn't have "it." Kind of a gut thing. Plus it's only 45 acres so you can fish the whole thing in a day. 3 Quote

Went out this morning and when I tried moving I only got 1 bite in an hour .. I feel like maybe they were not feeding as much in other places ? Or maybe just not there 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted August 29, 2017 Super User Posted August 29, 2017 I find myself fishing with purpose. After a few good fish, I try to decide the likelihood of a bigger one in the area. If that's the case I change bait. If that doesn't work I move. If I am bring kids with me, numbers trump size, and I stay 4 Quote

Super User JustJames Posted August 29, 2017 Super User Posted August 29, 2017 Sometime you just can't avoid it unless you know where the big girls at. Like right now my lake is full with juvenile bass 5-7 inches. They are every where and attack everything. They are faster and more aggressive than bigger ones. For the past months, I've been catching them like no tomorrow. I will catch a few keepers in between but most of the time those dinks got to my lure first. 1 Quote
