primetime Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Green water I usually go with Green Pumpkin or GP with some red flake, junebug or black and blue, or watermelon blue flake... Red shad almost always catches fish for me when the water has any color. I do have a theory that in green water I like to use a green/brown color so it looks natural, and then go with some flake for contrast if a plain Green pumpkin worm is not working, although GP seems to always work, so does watermelon red. 1 Quote
Ktho Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Whether it's green, blue, brown or any color if there's some sort of clarity I'm going green pumpkin, I like GP red flake and black flake as well. If it's really clear and sunny I'll also use blue fleck, margarita mutilator etc bright purple/pinkish colors. For creature baits I'll use the Alabama craw color, green pumpkin top with orangish belly. But GP variants are my favorite. If visibility is really really poor I'll use black variants. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 1, 2017 Super User Posted September 1, 2017 Usually the formula is the darker the water, the darker the bait. The only place I've seen this change up is Lake St Clair where in 15 years of going there this pattern has held: Sunny skies Yamamoto 297 Green Pumpkin Black Fleck. Cloudy skies Yamamoto 308 Baby Bass. 308 is noticeably lighter colored. 1 Quote
