GnM Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Hello, I was curious of anyone on here fishes or has fished Elephant Butte. I will be making my first trip there next weekend and am looking for some places to start. Not asking for anyone to give up their honey holes, but just some areas of the lake I could target. Just trying to just narrow my search. I generally only target black bass, and always practice catch and release.... so I won't be taking any toads home. I really appreciate and thank anyone who responds. GnM Quote
Dorado Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I have a bunch of NM buddies who swear by using white crankbaits for black bass at the Butte. Plus, you can always get the white bass interested if you want to catch something. Bomber Fat Free Shad in Pearl White or a Norman Little N in White Ghost come to mind Good luck and focus on islands and points! Quote
SWVABass Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Right no fish are on the main lake. I shore fished with my kids this weekend. Drop shots in 5-10 fow kept them busy. East side of the lake is my pick to start, looking into the first mid 1/3 of the coves. Whit or white belly cranks work well, tons of shad in the lake. Senkos usually fish real well for numbers and good ones. I will fish more on wed and give an update. Quote
SWVABass Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Cranking and top water is sloooow right now. Fished a drop shot and tube in 10-20 fow water Wednesday caught a limit for 8.33. Yamamoto shad shapped worm, roboworms, and bass pro tubes in green pumpkin variations worked well. The smallmouth were willing to bite throughout the day but it was a grind. Here is my best fish for the day. Quote

SWVABass Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 The tube was on a jig head, internal 1 Quote
