That Lowe will be a PIA to row without a motor!

Yeah I wouldn't row it lol. Already don't like rowing my canoe!

I'm getting the first one I posted for 1000. He says it's pretty stable... we'll see. I'll post how I like it after I take it out. Thank you everyone for all the help I really appreciate it

I contacted the guy about the tracker just to see if it was a scam or actually good

I'd say it's a scam?

yeah, I saw the same scam on CL here in DE as well. They used pics from an ebay auction and claimed to be in GA for that one. If it looks like too good to be true, it usually is.

I'm on Craigslist so much that spotting scam adds is almost second nature. Lol

i would be curious what the first boat was framed with. pressure treated lumber acts very badly with aluminum and can potentially eat through the hull.

I rented a 14' Starcraft rowboat last week, it was nothing I would try to stand in, but I was comfortable enough sitting in it. I would be happy to have even a smaller boat that could get me to places I can't otherwise get to.

Well took it out tonight... 3 minutes in the d**n engine locks up. The one piston got tons of groves, head gasket blew. A guy who stopped to see if we were alright said he thinks it could be the impeller because I don't think it was getting water.

Fished around with the trolling motor for a little... hooked one but it got off at the boat

That sucks man.  I'm not an expert but I think it should take longer than 3 min running without water to score a piston or blow a head gasket.  You remembered to put oil in the fuel right?

We were in the lake. Yeah we put some good fuel and oil in that we use for dirt bikes too

Yikes! That sucks. Did the seller take you for a test ride first?

Trying to check it out, both ads (minus the scam) are deleted and sold, not sure what the boat is or what motor you need, but I had a buddy selling an older tiller drive Honda 9.9 for a pretty good deal, not sure if he still has it. Saw Pittsburgh CL ads, we've got to be pretty close.

No

How much would a pretty good deal be?

I think it was roughly $1000, which for a Honda is good.

Hope it's not the one that fell off the boat in the other thread. :D

That sucks. Did you try calling the seller? There are some good people left in this world. Maybe he'll make it right

Ok thanks I'll keep that in mind. I think we will try to fix this one though

Yeah my dad texted him. He just said stuff like that never happened to me before. I don't really expect him to pay anything but that would be sweet if he did

Seller says he will split the costs. Thought we needed more pistons but my dad said they are ok now. Will be around $100 I think so not sure what he will send in mail. So sick he is doing this I didn't expect it

Nice.

I almost bought an outboard a few years back. The seller agreed that I can have my mechanic look at it before purchase. Mechanic charged me 1 hour labor and told me the motor was junk. Seller split the cost and I was only out $60 rather than $400.
