The clear tubing is a neat trick. Lake Fork Tackle has a cool system I use at times when I want a wacky rig to fall a little faster.

Most all senko type worms are near the same. I believe color is more important that whose senko I use. However, just like Yum Money Minnows, I refuse to spend $9 on a bag of Yamamoto's based simply on price. I use about 3/4 different brands and some locally made ones as well. Which one I purchase is based on color and not who made it.

Why not use the Z Man Zinkerz or the Strike King 3x Zero if you're wacky rigging and wanting the best durability? I would think you could fish one bait all day with the durability of the elaztech material.

Always a "hot" topic and I'm glad to see a great exchange of ideas!!  I just got back from Wisconsin where the bite was really really tough but I finally figured them out.  I had to freefall a 4 inch Senko weightless off a 4ft ledge into 25ft of water to get bit.  A really slow fall rate and a smaller bait than I am used to throwing.

I'm a Dinger guy. I usually add a little weight to them, especially if I'm wacky rigging them. I like the Eco Pro Tungsten Pro Wacky Weights 1/32 for the 4" and 1/16 for the 5" using those also makes the worms last longer.

I have used yum dingers and SK shim-e-sticks. I hate dingers, they suck, I couldn't catch a fish with them. I had some success with the shim-e-stick but neither amount to the senko. I exclusively use senkos and SK Ochos now. Neither are durable but that's the trade off for the good action. Walmart sells senkos cheaper than anyone else.

Try this method with the rubber tubing. I've had 1 Senko last like 10 trips.

Looks like the presentation would be affected based on your pictures : hook position , line , etc. *If you are going to go the tubing route - why not drill a hole through the center and insert your hook through that way wacky style ?

^^This^^ !! ...Out of all the ways I've tried to make a soft stick bait last longer - this may be the best . Some say they lose the Eco Pro weight and use a small piece of shrink tubing (I am estimating 1/8th" ~ 3/16th") shrink tubing over the top of the Eco Pro Wacky Weight where you slip the hook through then hit it slightly with a heat gun - should hold the hook better . *If this (or any technique) can make a soft stick bait last longer wacky rigged - then you can afford to use better softplastic stick worms  .

I actually use Vicious Limit-A-Tor. They come in the popular colors but I find they sell out very quickly from Vicious' website. I do also use Snack Daddy Snack Stick and occasionally Dingers.

I vowe one day to try the BizBaits (sponsor) soft stick worms (previous poster posted a video) ... I figure if they went through the trouble to make a video on the design / quality of their soft stick worm then they might b worth a try ... As for BPS Stik-O's : They have issues with color consistency as in a bag of green pumpkin you might ge two or three shades of green pumpkin ! Otherwise the Stik-O's are ok and I don't find their action anything to write home about ... I would also recommend looking at the Netbait Salt Sticks where you may find them as they are not bad and seem more the weight of a senko + loaded with salt .

I have one issue with Senkos and that's price. When I first started using them they were $5.99 then they went up to $6.49 now for a 5" Senko they are $7.49. To me that is too steep for the lack of durability.

I think the tubing softly grips the Senko in a way that lets it slide left and right, thus not tearing it.

I think if you put a hole in the middle the Senko would tear.

I use the SK Ochos cause they are cheaper than Senkos. They feel and seem to fall the same.

Caught 8 LM within a hour with a Shim E, 6 of them were within 15 minutes, a Senko won't do any better.

I always wacky rig Shim E, with a Goody Ouchless polyband (Model 71291). This way one stick lasts forever and fish don't see the transparent polyband at all. I also have one Senko rigged this way in my bag, just in case if a Shim E won't get a bite.

I always Texas rig Yum Dinger, because of its unique slot. I use two springs, one at the top where the hook goes in and one at the meddle where the hook goes out. I also use a small piece of thick rubber where the hook goes out the first time at the top, to keep the Dinger straight. This way, a Dinger also last forever.

Dinger is lighter than Senko, 0.39 vs. 0.4 oz, but not so noticeably. I fish it exactly the same way I use a Senko - raise the rod tip and drop, repeat. Sometimes I add a few twitches while raising the rod tip.

Shim E is even more lighter than Senko, 0.36 oz, falling significantly slower. So I have to force myself to wait longer before I raise the rod tip. With Senko and Dinger, I just raise and drop in a natural speed, without having to slow down.

I have confidence in any of them. The senko is hard to beat, but I think the softest is the wave worm tiki stick. I use dingers, old gander house brand, just tried the shim e stick and like it too. I probably never need senko style stick baits again as I have a large Rubbermaid full, but when I do buy them now I try different brands, usually the cheapest I can get. I use a couple basic colors and that’s it.

The Strike King Ocho is great, but not any more durable than a Senko.

Yea, but it seems like the Ochos go on sale far more often!

My favorite lure is the Senko. I especially love them wacky rigged. However, even with zip ties, I'm burning through them so quickly. I could have much better gear than Lightning Rods and Abu reels from Wal-Mart and DSG if I wasn't spending so much on lures alone. So, which do you prefer: Yum Dingers or Strike King Shim-E-Sticks?

Try a weighted wacky rig head with an elaztech worm. It has a really unique fall/action.

Plus, the elaztech lasts for dozens of fish.

From the anual Take a Soldier Fishing day on Lake Oneida.  Note the camera boat in the background.  Pretty cool that we got this shot cast to catch on the TV show.

I've started using the clear tubing method and putting some mend-it on the senko before sliding the tubing on. I did catch 13 on the same senko last week. Which actually surprised me before that I was get 2-3 fish using 2 crossed o-rings.
