What fish is this? (small, Maine, shallow freshwater cove)

After a day of bass fishing on a lake in southern Maine I stopped at a shallow cove to see if I could catch one of these to find out what it was. I still can't find out what it was, even after checking the google. What is it?

could be . wasn't Lake Placid in Maine? if they have a huge crocodile anything is possible.
