We are longtime bass fisherman and recently bought a bass boat. We are looking to find summer largemouth on the Columbia and snake near tricities. Can anyone help?

First, let me say welcome! Although I live in the Pacific NW, I have not yet fished in your area for bass yet and am shorebound so I can't be of much help.  However, I think if you can search posts related to river fishing in the summer in general, there might be a nugget or two of information that you ought to be able to apply for our neck of the woods.  I hope the site owner sees this and can chime in.  I believe he has good knowledge for this area. Sorry I am unable to be of further assistance.

Summer largemouth in the tri-cities area?  Boy if you find them, let me know! Seriously!

I don't have any trouble finding them in the spring during pre- through post-spawn, but after that, they disappear.  I've fished many largemouth looking areas during summer/fall that you would swear would have largemouth in them, but I've only seen/caught smallies in those areas.  I've also fished deep water in areas that are near largemouth spawning flats, but again, smallmouth galore.  There's a lot of big weedy flats and weed edges that look like they should be stacked with largemouth, but they're not.

Seriously, I wish I could give you some better advice.  But I haven't caught any largemouth during summer there. And it's not for lack of trying!

Thanks Glen my experience has been the same. Do you think that largemouth that spawn in backwater sloughs stay in the deepest part of those sloughs or do you think they head out to the river for deeper water. Thanks for the advice and I will find them!! Lol in my dreams! I'm on the hunt and have my river atlas guide so I'm carefully planning my hunt! Thanks again glen.

Truly an amazing river and area to fish....I miss it.

P.S.  Have always been satisfied with the big smallies
