SpinnerbaitJake Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I want to keep this kinda short and sweet because I tend to ramble on a lot. I fish from my kayak and from the bank mostly while I save up for a boat to get me on the river. My favorite lures are chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, worms/creatures, and of course anything and everything topwater. Trying to get better/love anytime I get a bite on a jig too. I've been fishing for only bass for about 2 years now pretty much every week and multiple times a week when life doesn't get in the way. Still haven't been able to get a 5+ pounder yet so that's my goal for this year. Ive tried another forum but it seemed to be just a place to show off the fish they caught for the day and no real discussion. Alright now now it's getting a little long so I'm going to cut it off here. Looking forward to having a spot to discuss what I love. 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 22, 2017 Super User Posted August 22, 2017 Great having you with us. We offer lots of information so don't be bashful and ask your questions. Southeast Mississippi is by Alabama. Is the Pascagoula River a tidal river? Quote

I can tell I'm going to love this forum because I'm already learning things. I didn't know what the term tidal river meant until you just asked me and I had to look it up haha. Learning stuff already. Quote

Basseditor Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Welcome. when it comes to catching bigger fish, go to the lakes that consistently produce bigger fish. It's that simple. i know that's overly simplistic but when I watched where bigger fish were being caught, I planned trips there. For me it was a 5-hour drive and it took several trips to figure it out. But then my personal bests got better and better. From 7 to 8 to 9 and finally 10+. My son caught a 13+ I live about 5 hours in any direction from some of the best lakes. Falcon, Amistad, Fork, Rayburn and Toledo Bend. I don't always catch big fish on those, but it sure beats the lakes within 2 hours. i know that any cast could produce a 10. Whereas, locally, it would be impossible to catch a 10 (at least now, as the only trophy local lake crashed). Quote
SpinnerbaitJake Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 I fish a local city lake that supposedly has giants and there's one guy I talk to that fishes there regularly also that supposedly catches consistent 5 pounders but never when I'm around and never has a picture of one haha. Other that that our river down here has its glory days in the past as far as giants go. There's still some out there but it's rare. One day I'll take some time off work and go visit a reservoir near me and hopefully catch something I could measure and make a mount of. Quote
