This past weekend, I was up the lake fishing. I bought this rod in April, I have used it two times, once in May and once this past weekend. This past weekend, I was fishing the lake with my dad and his friend. I went to cast and thought I hit someone's rod behind me but no the tip of my brand new only been used twice $140 (after shippping) tip snapped off. I am very disappointed in Favorite, having using the rod only twice. Luckily, they have a warranty program but this has been a eye-opener for me and I will never buy an expensive rod like this again.

That rod, while nice, appears overpriced not to mention the added cost to ship. Maybe it costs a lot for the red white and blue paint job.

The warranty should take care of it. Don't let this deter you from getting a rod in the future.

I snapped a $450 rod just in front of the reel seat on the first hookset I made - on a dink.  Called that company, in a few days a new rod was on my doorstep.  I didn't come on a forum to complain how dissatisfied I was.  That was four years ago.  That is a go to rod, and I'm very happy with it.  Contact Favorite, and let them square it up with you.  Complaining on a fishing forum will do will not fix your broken rod.   Once you've done all that, let know the outcome.

Rods break. To come on a forum and bash them without even giving them a chance to make it right is the wrong thing to do. That is how a company gets an undeservingly poor reputation. I have a few friends that own multiple Favorite rods and have never had an issue. LFG and the Googan squad also seems pretty happy with them. Maybe contact Favorite and give them a chance to make it right.

Sounds like it may have been a defect in manufacturing, it happens. Like stated above, contact them and let them sort it out for you. Good luck on getting it taken care of.

I am not simply bashing the company. I am extremely shocked how a rod could break over two times of usage under 5 hours total. I have contacted Favorite, I have to send the rod back (another shipping fee) and they will then verify. I'm a fan of Favorite and this is my first purchase from them. I do believe it could be a manufacturing or shipping issue that led to it breaking. I have no negative intentions about the company at all. This experience has defiantly altered my opinion on more expensive rods.

I did call Favorite and I will be shipping the broken rod to them. I was not simply complaining, it was more of an eye-opener experience. This was the first "quality" and "expensive" rod that I have purchased while having zero to no issues with cheaper rods. I got things squared away and customer service was helpful. Again, I'm not bashing Favorite as I am disappointed that this happens with 2 uses.  I will give Favorite the benefit off the doubt, hoping it was something wrong from manufacturing issue and will continue to give them another shot.

Will do. Thanks.

My $42,000 pickup required three throttle body replacements and a new rear diff, under warranty.  Would I buy another? Sure.  It wasn't any worse than any other car I've owned.

So are we saying if a product is prone to defects, that’s acceptable as long as the warranty is there to replace it?  Good warranties and CS are nice, but not having to use them is nicer.

Any rod can break, but some are more prone to breakage than others (Carrot Stix, anyone?).  Even if the replacement program is great, it’s a drag to break a rod and go without it for potentially weeks in the summer, and possibly pay shipping or replacement fees.  Maybe others can chime in with positive experiences to reassure the masses that this is a one-off defect or mishandling during shipping, or even user error, all of which can happen to any rod.  Otherwise, if people are having breakage issues with rods (especially new, relatively unknown companies) I’m interested to hear about it.

@connorwallin you should know better than to have a negative experience with a sponsor product ;)  Hopefully Favorite takes care of you; let us know how it turns out.

One person broke a rod, and it's prone to defects, and you're going to claim bias toward a sponsor?

So, this is where I think you guys that accuse us of bias GET IT ALL WRONG.  I am using a Favorite rod.  Yes, it was given to me.  It is from their budget priced line.  Would I buy this rod for myself?  Probably not.  Therefore, I would not be able to test it.  It has worked perfectly, and held to to a few abusive things I would never put an expensive rod through.

Let me ask you a question @fissure_man.  Would you rather I just make crap up, and lie to members about the gear, or actually use the stuff, and report back results?  Seriously. There's always a few - the same few - that just can't accept that we are trying to help members out, and point quality gear.  No, it's easier sit behind your keyboard and make accusations.

This isn't just limited to sponsor gear, either.  I just locked a similar thread involving a non sponsor.

Locking this up too, as there's no benefit to further discussion.
