Super User Ratherbfishing Posted August 15, 2017 Super User Posted August 15, 2017 Am in the market for a new trolling motor (old one crapped out on me). The choice of companies are slim pickin's (Minn Kota and Motor Guide) and most models I've found seem to always have SOME deliberate flaw built into them (cheap switches, thin gauge wire, pot metal brackets, etc)-something that always wears out or breaks prematurely (made to be broken). On Amazon, however, I see a company called Newport Vessels. Have any of ya'll tried them and, if so, what do you think? Quote
eddallen Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Is this for pond fishing (transom mounted)? Battery life seems to be minimal at best. Quote

I don't think so... probably more an issue of trying to get a product to the customer for a price they will pay. Just looked at Newport Vessels trolling motors, I see that their gear is all sub $400 and designed for smaller boats...I would say that what I wrote above is even more applicable in that price range. If I had to guess, I would say probably made in China or someplace overseas like most products in that range, with similar quality. Sidebar: That gal they use as a spokes-model sure won't hurt sales... Quote
