Quarry Man Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 As some of you may know, I am in the process of planning a complete tackle revamp. Part of this process includes a change in the way i store my soft plastics. Currently I am using the bag system. I keep all my plastics in their original packaging (like green pumpkin yum dingers). I then group the plastics together those go into a quart sized bag (like 5" Senkos). I then put all lures in that category into a gallon sized bag (like Senkos). after i do this to all my plastics. I put them all into a reusable grocery bag or a big box. That is my current method. It is very compact, which is a big advantage of this method. the downside is the amount of time wasted digging through 5 bags to get one particular bait out. That is why I would like to change things up. My plan is to go trays that allow me to keep my baits in their original packaging, yet still have them easily accessible. I really like the Plano 3731; however, it is not waterproof. I have been fishing a lot in the rain recently and my stuff has been getting wet. It is not the end of the world, but id like to find a way to store my plastics in a waterproof, yet convenient fashion. I like how i can store 2 rows of plastics in each tray. I will then put my boxes into a Bass Pro Shops Utility Box Carrier. I will also be using one for my tackle as well. Does anybody know of a box like the 3731 that is waterproof? Any body know the best way to store Keitech Swing Impact Fats? Thanks Quote

Super User JustJames Posted August 15, 2017 Super User Posted August 15, 2017 No not fix compartment it is 1 to 3 compartment, you can take that separation out. Why waterproof? You will store original seal bag of plastic in there anyway? I found that box is pretty heavy (I use that for my terminal tackle in original package) 1 Quote

I read it also helps to keep scent in. I don't want any water anywhere its not supposed to be. I guess i don't want heavy boxes, but id rather them be sturdy, and these stay n the boat Quote
Super User JustJames Posted August 15, 2017 Super User Posted August 15, 2017 I think you can fit maybe 20 bags or some on that box. I got my at academy $9.99 is pretty good deal. The box is heavy and taller than reg 3700. 1 Quote

GoneFishingLTN Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Anyone like the plano guide worm bags? Quote

Chance_Taker4 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I personally do not leave my plastics in my Plano Box. I have what has been dubbed the "Wall of Plastics" by my friends. I have a 4'x24' wall of pegboard and hooks and I keep them organized by brand, type and color. The day before I go out I grab what I need and store them in one or two Plano 3731 boxes then back on the wall when I'm done. I have never had an issue with the Plano boxes since I have used them. This also helps me keep track of inventory. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted August 15, 2017 Super User Posted August 15, 2017 I use gallon ziplocks. Cheap, boring, and effective. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted August 15, 2017 Super User Posted August 15, 2017 Personally, I use 3650 style trays, with a large right side that can hold a few soft plastic bags. I tend to put the soft plastic bags in the box that I'd use them with, so a NetBait Paca Chunk with swim jigs, senkos with hooks etc. which makes finding what I want easy. Then I load up extra soft plastics into the top and side compartments of my bags. Extra bags get kept in a plastic bag in my trunk. Obviously I would have more storage with 3700 size trays, but the 3650 size allows me to keep my tackle bag easily portable, which is important as I don't own a boat and sometimes end up walking a ways to get to a fishing spot. I keep lures for catfish (1/6 boxes) and bass in one bag and trout in another although I plan to separate catfish lures at some point to free up space, and more importantly, weight. This helps keep it neatly organized. Quote
boostr Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I have one of these on my boat. I keep baits I use frequently in this box. I'm gonna order more for my other plastics. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Plano_3700_Worm_Stowaway/descpage-PWS7.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwt8rMBRBOEiwA2F2biJ6NyAbzJKPO951nMk7BogdYQnhbZ_3mpSTBSPrezbJG_aMearJHThoCH_AQAvD_BwE 1 Quote
