Do you guys keep your hooks in your soft plastics when you are done fishing for the day? Also what about trailers? I fish a lot of Keitechs, which are very soft and for this reason I keep them rigged, but I've been experiencing rust.

If the plastic has salt, and most do, I take the hooks out at the end of every day.  Salt corrodes the hook and promotes rust.

Just like in saltwater right? I was thinking that too. When I first stated fishing, I watched a youtube video by 1 rod 1 reel where he would keep all his baits pre rigged. in response i did that too. looks like that will have to change. Also is it ok if all my soft plastics are wet?

I use alot of Kietech myself. A bottle of mendit will be your friend, once you remove the hooks. I remove hooks from all plastics no matter salt content.

Used plastics are left to dry, and fixed  with mendit or tossed.

I doubt it would affect the plastics if they are stored when damp, considering many people pour water based scents such as Gulp in the bags of plastics.  I haven't had any issues, but my plastics are almost always air dried by the time they go back in the bag.

I alway leave my hook in plastic even with Senko. I always pre-rig some like Fluke and Fat ika with hook in my Day box.

I don't see any effect to the hook yet. The Senko one with hook is still on my spinning rod which was tie a week back. Fluke in my day box was there maybe close to a month. Just think like those kind of plastic swimbait the come with hook. I don't leave them there for too long, thou. Once I change lure I will take off the hook repair with mend-it and store in plastic bag, except my Fluke and trailer on chatterbait which will stay there as long as I fish them.

I guess the problem really comes into view when the plastic is used, then cut off and placed into the original packaging, or any other sealed packaging for that matter, while wet, allowing the salt and water to create rust on the hook.

That might be it and also quality of hook to consider as well. I got some rusted hook just to store in Plano box after use.

I alway open the lid on my day box after boat/kayak fishing trip to let it air dry in garage.

I take the plastic off after every outing.

The only exception is if the hook has a keeper and I know I'll be throwing that same bait again the next time out.

Air them out in the tackle box.

I put up a magnetic strip for tackle to dry out of.

Every time I look in one of the 3700's I replace items from the strip
