Dobyn's Champ vs Tatula Elites

So, I'm trying to decide on a couple of new rods. I'm torn between the Dobyn's champ xp and the Tatula Elites. To be more specific, I'm looking at the 736 glass rod for chatterbaits, swim jigs, and possibly DD cranks. I am also looking to the 734C/735C for worms/jigs/trigs. In the elites I'm looking at the Ehrler line 7'3" glass and the 7'3" MHF. Does anyone have experience fishing with both of these rod and outside the warranty/customer service, are the xp's worth the extra $? Specifically the sensitivity of the 734c/735c vs the Ehrler model.

The champion series of rods are a nice sensitive rod. I just bought the 736 cb glass, Very good balance. I have no experience with the other brand.

Do yourself a favor and get the champion, you will be glad you did. At the price point of the champion xp I feel that it is unmatched in sensitivity and balance. I can't really speak on the glass rods but all my bottom rods are champions and they just feel so sweet.

For what you intend to use it for the regular Daiwa Tatula rods have plenty of sensitivity and you could get at least 2 of those rods if not 3 if you find a sale for the cost of one Dobyns XP. For $109 you could get either the 7'2" heavy fast or the 7'2" mh regular or both and you're still almost $140 less than the xp.

I do like the OG tats. Do you have expirence using the elites for a comparison between the 2? The blanks seem to be the same. On paper at least

I can only give my input on the 7'2 Heavy Fast Tatula.  I picked it up at Academy on clearance for $60 but I would pay full price.  It had a stiff backbone but the tip is incredibly soft and senaitive.  I throw 50lb braid on it and use it for frogs, jigs and even 1/8oz tx rigs.

It may be worth checking out the Champion XP 744c as well.  The Champion 704 and 734 I have are very good rods but I find them better for moving lures.  Dobyns responded by adding a 744 to their Champion line, which I'm told has a faster action better suited to "feel" techniques.

I've got one I'm looking to move if you guys are interested.  Picked up a Champion XP 765 to replace it.
